iPoker receives Approval for Shared Poker Liquidity between Austria and Finland

Not long ago we heard about a possibility of France, Spain and Italy sharing their poker liquidity.

The representatives of all three countries met in late 2016 for unofficial talks about the topic. The expectations ware, that this would be the worlds first cross border regulated poker player pool.

But, those countries weren’t the first to do that after all. The Finnish RAY and Austrian Win2Day will now share the first international, regulated poker market.

Both companies are Playtech clients so its no wonder that Playtech will take care of supporting the merger.

Playtech

UK based Playtech is the worlds largest online software supplier. They offer software, hosting, customer service, and transaction management solutions for online casinos around the globe.

Their poker network, iPoker is one of the largest poker networks providing players with top notch software and promotions.

iPoker received multiple international awards. Most recently they have been awarded with the EGR Poker Network of the Year 2014 award.

Approval for Shared Poker Liquidity

Playtech clients RAY and Win2Day have received approval to form a shared poker player pool. The agreement is the first of its kind. Never before have we seen two, state regulated poker sites, get permission to share poker liquidity.

On December 8th the Finnish Ministry of the Interior formally approved the deal. With Playtech firming up their online casino content deal with FRV Finland, there is no surprise that they will be the ones who provide the needed infrastructure.

On this occasion, the COO of Playtech, Shimon Akad said, “We have been pioneers in the gaming industry for many years and are extremely proud to be the first company to provide two great brands with a poker network and series of leading products that will combine to form the first ever cross-border poker network. Playtech has long been the largest and most successful poker network in the industry so we’re delighted to be part of this new venture.”

VP of RAY, Jan Hagelber expects the deal to “considerably increase the interest towards both operators’ poker games.”

The managing director of Win2Day, Martin Jekl also sees the deal as an opportunity to “sustainably expand our offering as the leading online poker provider in Austria with the joint network and thereby improve the customer experience for our users.”

Conclusion

Although the project is the first of its kind, we can expect more and more of similar deals going down.

The biggest problem that the European regulated poker markets will have to face is definitely the difference in taxation schemes between the European nations.
