The weekend highstakes game of $100/$200 was running along nicely when the lights went out, but Benjamin “blankcheckben” Lee and Gal Yifrach weren’t for moving.
Lights from mobile phones provided the action with a somewhat unusual and eery atmosphere. Fellow players and bystanders also prefer to see who won the huge pot rather than evacuate.
A tank-call by Yifrach on the river saw Lee turn over the winning hand – trip nines on the turn enough to pull in the $30k pot – more than enough to pay the casino’s electricity bill.
The Hustler Casino’s livestreamed cash games have proved very popular, though the production value is usually better than Lynne Ji’s hand-held iPhone footage…

Hustler Casino was, of course, owned by Larry Flynt, the adult publishing giant who passed away last year and the Hustler Casino Live project was the final one he approved before his death.
“One of Mr. Flynt’s requests before his passing was to give the poker community the best and biggest games; in his words, ‘I want to see white chip games here’”, read aa press release at the time.
More than $1million was spent on transforming the Gardena, California casino’s high-limit poker room, the Crystal Room, into the set for the new live show.
Since its launch last summer, the livestream has attracted some of the poker world’s best-known names. Regulars such as matt Berkey and Garrett Adelstein were joined recently by Tom Dwan and Phil Ivey.
