Gus Hansen Is Back in Bobby’s Room Playing $5,000/$10,000 Cash Games

Gus Hansen has delighted his fans by making a return to Las Vegas. The Great Dane is possibly the fan’s most favourite poker star and gives us non-stop entertainment when dueling over the felt.

Gus Hansen’s Jet Set Lifestyle

It’s been many years since Gus Hansen was seen grinding the live tournament scene with any real frequency. Even so, he still has an army of fans who are always ready to hear news on his latest exploits.

Over the last year, we have seen Hansen regularly travelling between the USA and Europe to take part in high stakes cash games in Bobby’s Room. The legendary private back room in the Bellagio Casino has a constant stream of high-profile players looking for action.

When Hansen is present, there is always that little extra excitement. No doubt this is due to his hyper-aggressive style and refusal to cow down to anyone in a poker game.

So, when the Instagram post landed, all eyes were once again on the Bellagio. Hansen declared,

“We’re back in Bobby’s Room. It’s December. The only question that remains is, is it gonna be a great Christmas?”

Poker legend Doyle Brunson can be seen in the background, and no doubt there will be many more stars arriving for the festive action. Possibly a few trying to escape the harsh European winter.

Better Than Last Year

Exactly a year ago Gus Hansen was posting his exploits to Instagram, and it wasn’t going well. Seated in Bobby’s Room with the likes of Phil Ivey and Dan ‘Jungleman’ Cates everything was going awry.

Leaving the game he posted a video announcing that it was going to be a long winter. A further video explained that he had,

“…called $63,000 on the river with an exquisite soul read, just to realise I couldn’t have been more wrong. Time to take a break, it’s gonna be a long winter.”

Great Summer

Moving onto the summer, with the poker community descending on Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker, Gus Hansen was hoping that his luck would change. And it appeared that it did.

Repeated Instagram posts stating that it was going to be a great summer appeared constantly for weeks. At one stage Hansen posted a clip of him cashing out more than seven figures after buying in for much less.

It wasn’t all plain sailing, however, as ‘Jungleman’ looked to be getting the better of him more often than not. A cash in the WSOP Main Event might have sweetened that bitter pill though.

What Next for Gus Hansen?

The Great Dane is a welcome addition to any poker tournament. He did tell his fans that he was toying with the idea of making a semi-return to live tournament action, but so far he has only one cash in the last five years.

Maybe the action in Bobby’s Room is enough to keep him occupied. It is well-known that many rich amateurs do join the superstars in their domain – maybe Hansen is taking enough from these guys to feel he can’t give up the time to play high-variance tournaments.

Whatever he chooses, we are always happy to see what he is up to. You can keep up to date on our news page here.
