Serial poker scamster Fred Khalilian has been charged with orchestrating a murder plot intended to get rid of a filmmaker who was making a movie about his shady exploits.
Khalilian, the man behind the infamous PokerTribe(s).com scandals, is alleged to have paid money to a former bodyguard for the assassination of an LA-based filmmaker, identified only as “Victim One” in FBI documents.
The bodyguard, known only by the initials “M.S.” and who had left Khalilian’s employ after one year, decided to inform the filmmaker about his former boss’s plan. A scheme was then hatched to fake the murder of the documentary director.
The pair staged a fake murder scene in the filmmaker’s apartment in LA, posing the apparently dead director to make it look like Khalilian’s commands had been carried out.
According to the affidavit against Khalilian, who also co-owned a Miami nightclub with socialite Paris Hilton, the photos and videos were turned over to the FBI, along with recordings of threats of violence.
One of these threats, aimed at ‘Victim1’, read: “I’m going to fuck you up bitch. …I’m going to have your fucking head. I’m going to fuck you up so hard … you’re a fucking piece of shit, you motherfucking, cocksucking, motherfucker.
It continued: “Listen to me you motherfucker. When I’m done with you, I’m going to cut each one of your fucking fingers off. I’m coming for you, motherfucker. I was leaving you alone for a couple of years, you hear me you cocksucker?”
Fred Khalilian allegedly made several payments towards the $20,000 price he had placed on the filmmaker’s head, but they were actually made to FBI-devised bank accounts.
Khalilian, who faces up to ten years in prison if convicted, tried to make it as a major player in the world of online poker by taking roughly $20million from the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribe, and the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma.
In return, he was supposed to provide them with a workable platform for online poker to be run under the tribal lands’ protection, but that never materialised in the way they had hoped.
One site, GreySnowPoker.com, did launch in 2018, with German highstakes pro, Rainer Kempe, as brand ambassador, but it shut down two years later in the face of tough competition.
Fred Khalilian was also involved in a supposed $400,000,000 endorsement deal of Soulja Boy, which would see the rapper joining CelebrityWorld.com, a “celebrity owned social gaming site” to be integrated into an in-flight gaming project.
It is believed that many of these dubious or downright scam projects were set to be included in the documentary, leading Khalilian to allegedly plot the murder-for-hire.
