Crazy Action in Bobby’s Room – With Daniel Cates and Doyle Brunson
Doyle Brunson and Daniel “Jungleman” Cates are back in Bobby’s Room. This time, Dan Cates thought up a very special plan – lulling his opponent into comfort by losing to them intentionally. Could this ever work? Is Jungleman serious?
Although this year’s WSOP is behind us, evidently, the poker action in Vegas never stops.
In fact, it seems that in the most famous cash game room in the world, Bobby’s Room at the Bellagio, it’s going stronger than ever.
So much so that it even managed to amaze Doyle Brunson. The 85-year-old “Godfather of Poker” has seen a lot on the felt, but apparently not stakes as high as this.
Looks like poker is over for awhile in Vegas. I’ve never seen so much money on the tables in Bobby’s Room. There was a 8k-16k mixed game. Numerous 5k-10k games. the standard game was 3k-6k.

Jungleman’s Cunning Con
With stakes this high, you need something special at the table.
Daniel “Jungleman” Cates, one of the most frequent guests at Bobby’s Room, decided to borrow a page from the pool hustlers’ book and intentionally lost money to his opponents – or at least so he claims on Instagram.
He first posted about his master plan on July 17th.
<
In his first video, he doesn’t specify what his intentions s are, only saying that:
“I came prepared with some tricks up my sleeve and a little bit of extra stuff”.
Then he shows himself with goofy props and a hat at the poker table.
He also brought with himself $30,000 in cash – very little sum for a Bobby’s Room game – and an iPad to play some online poker while playing live.
So far his fans could have no idea what Jungleman is up to.
Dan Jungleman Cates Loses $80K in 45 Minutes
Two days later, he followed up with another video on his Instagram account.
<
>
He proclaims that “I successfully started the start of my con”, then announces that he’s lost around $80,000 within the first 45 minutes of his cash game.
“Jungleman” Cates goes on to claim that his initial downswing is all part of the plan as “every great con starts with a bait”.
Evidently, there’s a good chance he’s just joking around on the internet. While losing $80k would put most of us in a rather sorrowful mood, Jungleman has won enough both at the live and the online poker tables for him to not worry too much about that money.
Based on his videos, it seems he probably planned something other losing –as he put – the prize of a very nice BMW, but he jokingly downplays what happened.
If he’s in fact serious, he would have a hard time playing the role of the fish at the table given the fact he is one of the most famous poker players in the world…
Also, posting about one’s master plan publicly on social media would also be a questionable move.
