NFTs have been a highly hyped topic in 2021, not just amongst poker players. Doug Polk however, seems to be a little bit skeptical about the topic.
My timeline had 9 straight tweets about NFTs today from different people.
Are we even allowed to talk about other things at this point?

Doug Polk discussing NFTS with Mike McDonald in his latest podcast
Even though Doug Polk has invested in cryptocurrencies, it seems like he is already fed up with the NFT hype. He probably feels like many other Twitter users.
If you are following some of the most influential poker pros on Twitter, you will quickly realize that most of them have been talking a lot about NFTs.
There has been plenty of news regarding poker players and other individuals purchasing NFTs for huge prices.
Even large companies jumped on the hype train – even the multinational financial services corporation VISA announced that they have purchased an NFT for $150,000 for a CryptoPunk NFT, which is part of 10,000 unique 24×24 pixels images.
Over the last 60 years, Visa has built a collection of historic commerce artifacts – from early paper credit cards to the zip-zap machine. Today, as we enter a new era of NFT-commerce, Visa welcomes CryptoPunk #7610 to our collection. https://t.co/XoPFfwxUiu

While $150,000 for an NFT might seem like quite a lot of money, Mike McDonald certainly didn’t hold back. He purchased an NFT named EtherRock 55 for 125 Ether which is worth more than $400,000.
This looked far too rare to pass on https://t.co/VgmPhoZxqR

Other poker pros like Daniel Negreanu also spoke about NFTs and made fun of the current hype:
I’m creating and selling this new NFT and opening the bidding at $1.5 million.
Am I doing this right? Or is it worth way more? pic.twitter.com/DgfmPMTRNi

It seems like there are lots of different opinions about the whole situation and while it may seem ridiculous for somebody to invest almost half a million $ in an NFT, it might turn out to be a rewarding investment.

Could the 2021 WSOP be cancelled?
As you may have heard, there have been a lot of discussions about this year’s WSOP and its infamous vaccination policies.
While it was stated in the rules that all players must be double-jabbed to avoid getting sent away from the event, the organization just announced that not all of their dealers will be vaccinated.
This obviously caused a huge shitstorm amongst players about this weird decision. Players like Matusow even consider boycotting the tournament due to its policies.
This is more comical bs and im seriously thinking of boycotting @wsop https://t.co/YkhBHJcJSl

There are many players who are rightfully unhappy with the rules, and it seems like it is quite likely that they at least won’t be attending the tournament series.
However, there is still plenty of time left until the tournament starts, and judging by the most recent rulings and changes it is possible that we will witness another change of mind.
We will keep you updated about the most recent WSOP rules and changes in our Poker News.
