Doug Polk has narrowly lost his $200,000 Weight Loss Prop Bet with Bill Perkins by just 1.3%. They wagered that Polk had a year to lose half of his body fat percentage and he frustratingly only just failed to get over the line.
I have officially started a 1 year bet against @bp22. 1 year to lose half of my body fat. I just got my dexa scan and I came in @ 27.7% bf.
Feb 10th 2023 I must be < 13.85% BF
We bet $200,000
The Journey begins.

A week ago, the Upswing Poker founder tweeted out a teaser that he was about ready to go and have the conclusive Dexa scan to find out once and for all if he would be victorious in his prop bet.
When the bet was originally agreed, most commentators thought that one year was too long a time period to make this challenge difficult enough to be interesting. So, when Polk announced the weigh in, nobody was expecting him to fall short.

Notes:
Weight cuts that lower water and muscle are bad as it increases non fat vs fat %
Fasting could be helpful but will lower muscle %

Doug Polk Fires His Army of Experts
The figures were a current bodyfat of almost 28% must become 13.85% for Polk to win $200,000. With that in mind, Doug Polk surrounded himself with an army of “experts” to control every aspect of his diet and exercise regime.
The problem was these so-called experts weren’t as good as they managed to convince Doug Polk that they were.
By August 2022, Polk’s progress had stalled and he decided that he would take matters into his own hands by firing the whole team and continuing alone.
“I reached the point where I decided I needed to take matters into my own hands. So I fired everybody and did it myself. Since August, my progress has been really good. I’ve just been dropping pounds steadily every month.”
Three weeks before the final weigh-in, Doug Polk was frustratingly close to his target bodyfat percentage at 17% but it was starting to get tough. Sleepless nights from hunger and taking care of his new born son was taking heavy toll.
Ultimately, it wasn’t to be, but Polk won’t be that disappointed. He says he is in the best shape of his life and can certainly afford the $200,000 hit to his wallet.
