Doug Polk and Mike Matusow calling out Scott Ball for being a scammer

Mike Matusow has claimed former Twitch Poker boss Scott Ball cheated Phil Hellmuth’s private online game out of $800k, also accusing him of colluding to take $270k from Phil Nagy.

Meanwhile, Doug Polk has also called out Ball, describing him as “a complete piece of shit” who “would lie all the time about everything.”

The incredible accusations broke on Mike Matusow’s ‘The Mouthpiece’ podcast, episode 60 of the show entitled Judgement Day and with the legendary Mike the Mouth not holding back on the allegations.

Among them are claims that Scott Ball…

  • Colluded with his accountant and a friend during the game to take it for $800,000;
  • Cheated Phil Nagy for $270,000 one night when he was drunk;
  • Gambled away huge amounts of a $1.1million Hellmuth investment in his company;
  • Lost $400,000 of that money playing against Jason Koon and Nick Petrangelo

Mike claims he told other players in the $10/$20 online home game, “…this guy is a scammer, he’s a thief, and he has people ghosting his account.”

Claiming that Ball told Hellmuth lies about him, Matusow explained it was because, “Scott wanted me out of the game cos I was the best player by far, the biggest winner, and Scott wanted to make money.”

“This guy was doing everything he could to destroy me, and destroy mine and Phil’s relationship, by making up things.”

Before they kissed and made up, however, Matusow was excluded from the home game, and he says that Ball later admitted to cheating $800k from Hellmuth in the months that followed.

“I was so mad when all this came to light that I wanted to take a baseball bat over this guy’s head,” states an emotional Matusow. “This guy just took these peoples money and just gambled it all away.”

Matusow says that Hellmuth didn’t want the story to become public knowledge, and they had fallen out because Hellmuth wouldn’t believe his earlier claims about Ball.

He also says that Ball, who he describes as a “scam artist, cheating piece of shit”, had a lawyer send him a letter threatening to sue if he went public with the allegations.

“How is he going to sue me when I got between 8 and 15 people that’ll verify the entire story.

Meanwhile, Doug Polk waded into the emerging scandal, telling people to be “careful of” Ball, adding: “I cant say he scammed anyone but in my experience he is just a shitty, horrible person.”

Polk’s tweets claimed that Ball would “beg me for 1k transfers”  and “he would talk shit about me ALL the time. Try to buddy up and then talk shit about you behind your back.”

Fellow pros Parker ‘Tonkaaaap’ Talbot and Jaime Staples were also singled out by Ball according to Polk…

Talbot in turn responded with a similar take on Ball…

Scott Ball is credited as being the creator of Twitch Poker, and he now runs his own company End Game Talent, focusing on digital marketing and working with poker sites among other clients.

As a poker player, he has nine live tournament cashes totaling almost $70,000 and has appeared on Poker Night in America alongside the likes of Daniel Negreanu, Antonio Esfandiari and Maria Ho.
