Doug Polk has tweeted that he is moving away from Las Vegas and closing the poker chapter in his life. The American heads-up star told how he moved to Sin City over a decade ago and still can’t believe how his career panned out.
Today is my last day living in Las Vegas. Moved here over a decade ago with just a few thousand to my name, and a dream to play poker for a living. Still hard to believe how it all shook out, couldn't be more grateful for the life I've gotten to live.
To the next chapter 🍻

The Poker Community Says Thank You to Doug Polk
After a stellar career in poker, Doug Polk is finally—for the second time—heading into retirement away from the bright lights of Las Vegas.
The 33-year-old American immediately drew comment from his peers, none more so congratulatory than fellow high stakes player Garrett Adelstein who said:
“It’s truly a hell of a story. And it’s that much more impressive that you’ve arrived here (by your own admission) first and foremost as a result of extraordinary effort as opposed to raw talent. In many ways, you are quite a role model for me Doug. In essence, thank you.”
This is great to see, and a perfect lesson to upcoming players who can see just what is achievable with hard work. Doug Polk has put everything into the last decade, so it is maybe understandable that he is ready to walk away at a relatively young age.
Doug Polk Moves onto the Next chapter in His Life
It looks as if Doug Polk and his partner still haven’t decided where they are going, even though they packed up last night. Austin, Texas, was put up as the favourite option but they still don’t know for sure.
Polk is quite well-known for his left-of-centre politics which drew some comment in his Twitter thread. Texas, shall we say, is not known for being liberal.
“don’t bring your radical left wing mind to Texas, please and thank you.”
Polk also recently spoke out on the issue of recreational drugs.
The war on drugs has been one of the most collasal failures in modern American history.
Legalize Drugs.

Could Doug Polk Switch to Politics?
Maybe he is considering a career switch into local politics.
When the mayor of Las Vegas wanted to open up the city in the middle of the covid-19 pandemic, he campaigned to have her recalled. He clearly has passion for this kind of thing, so why not?
As a successful businessman, he now has the image that would support him well for this type of career in the US. We assume that he will not be leaving his Upswing brand behind, which has reportedly made him more money than playing poker.
This is the end of an era, and even Doug Polk’s most ardent critics seem to have mellowed somewhat.
“I always thought you were an obnoxious prick. I hoped dnegs would wreck your milky thang. You played with honor and grace – I respect that and I respect you. Awesome job, Dude! Was a real trip to watch you blossom and I wish you good fortune in the next ‘chapter’”
