Doug Polk has challenged Mike Postle to appear on his podcast to give his side of the story in what has turned out to be the biggest poker scandal of the last decade.
Recently back from his honeymoon, Polk has restarted his popular podcast and says an update video on Postlegate is a mandatory episode for him to produce.
Appearing in an hour-long episode with Mike Brady and Thomas “SrslySirius” Keeling, the trio agreed that it was time to hear Postle explain himself and also discussed the possibility of him coming back from such a scandal.
“We have a lot of things to discuss”
Polk said:
“I would love…love to have Postle come on here as a guest on the podcast…Postle, if you’re listening, just come on the pod, man. Everyone would love to hear you talk. We have a lot of things to discuss…what’s been going on with the legal situation…”
It turns out that when the story broke, Doug Polk spoke to Mike Postle via direct messages online and asked for an explanation of some of the controversial reads.
Postle seemed to be open to the idea of a public discussion but not before he had gone over the hands himself and was confident in his counterargument.
Mike Brady is of the opinion that Postle was not able to come up with any believable explanation for even a single example, and so declined to appear on a show.
Doug Polk gave credit to Joey Ingram for spending up to as much as 100 hours delving deep into the television footage but he was also not able to come up with much.
What Does Mike Postle Do Now?
Discussion later moved onto what Mike Postle can do with his life in poker from here. Legal issues and a mountain of debt will certainly make setting everything right again more than a little painful.
Polk’s opinion is that everything will work out better if he comes clean about the whole episode. Possibly publicising the full story and trying to make money from that to be able to clear up all of the other issues.
He was also of the opinion that anyone can come back from anything in poker to some extent. If he came clean and tried to rectify events, then a comeback would be possible.
Mike Brady countered by saying that the story had so much reach, even being covered on ESPN, that Postle will be a pariah in any poker room.
Conversation then moved onto the parallels between Chris Ferguson and Howard Lederer trying to come back after the Full Tilt Poker debacle.
While Ferguson made a more concerted attempt to come out and play big events again, even winning the 2017 WSOP Player of the Year title, Lederer quickly retreated into his shell after deciding the public abuse wasn’t worth it.
We hope that Mike Postle hears about Doug Polk’s offer and gives it serious consideration. Everyone in the poker community will be waiting to hear what he has to say.
