A family trip turned into a $1.300,000 poker jackpot for a Texas woman this week, Dorothy Boone landing the life-changing win at Harveys Lake Tahoe casino in Nevada.
Huge Three Card Poker Jackpot in an hour
Dorothy took her friends recommendation and made a family trip to Lake Tahoe.

The jackpot winner had only been playing Three Card Poker for about an hour before hitting a royal flush in spades, according to Caesars Entertainment spokesperson Chelsea Ryder.
That was good enough to scoop the $1,340,518 progressive jackpot on offer.
What made it even more insane was that Temple, Texas woman Dorothy was only in Tahoe after friends advised her to take a trip with her family.
It’s not even clear that she immediately knew she had hit one of the biggest-ever 3 Card Poker jackpots.
According to the Tahoe Daily Tribune newspaper, her reaction when she won her phenomenal poker bonus was an astonished, “Huh… Really?!”
The original destination the group planned to visit was Laughlin, some 550 miles (880km) away on the Colorado River border with Arizona. The last-minute change of location proved to be serendipitous.
Three Card Poker Rules
Plans to spend the massive windfall are already afoot. Dorothy plans to buy a new house and ‘take her grandchildren to Disney World or Disneyland’, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.
For those who haven’t played Three Card Poker before, it started out as Casino Brag. That’s a variant on the old English game known simply as Brag.
In the casino version, you and the dealer are both dealt three cards. You can bet on your hand (pair plus), against the dealer’s hand (ante) or both.
Of course, with only three cards it seems impossible to hit a Royal Flush. However, you can combine your own hand with the dealer’s and make the best 5-card hand – known as the 6 Card Bonus wager.
In general, the house has an edge comparable to most other table games. The thrill of the game is the fast pace and potentially huge payouts, of course.
The Caesars Entertainment-owned Harrahsproperty is part of a network of linked table games across Nevada. Both Blackjack and Pai Gow Poker also seeing huge progressive jackpots.
Lots of new millionaires
The casino chain claims to have made 837 millionaires since 1987, with seven in a nine-month span last year.
One of those was an even bigger 3 Card Poker jackpot winner, a $1.46million scoop – again with a Royal Flush – that saw the lucky winner at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas remains anonymous.
Such casino games don’t always work out as well as they did for the new Texan poker millionaire and the other big winners before her.
