Dmytry “D Kravchenko” Kravchenko scooped the GGMillion$ Week Main Event last night for a monster $1,486,518 payday. The young Belarus pro topped a stacked final table for a career-best win.
The Main Event took the place of the regular weekly $10k SHR on GGPoker, and with 928 entries it smashed the $7million guarantee and promised two $million+ payouts up top.
By the time the field had been whittled down to the final table of nine, Russia’s Vladimir Minko topped the chip counts, with Israel’s Ravid Garbi the shortest stack. In between, the likes of Canada’s Lucas Greenwood, Spain’s Sergio Aido and Australia’s David Yan.
Poland’s Maksim Vaskresenski was looking to add a 7-figure online score to his live PGT Cyprus Main Event victory, worth $1,250,000, and looking to improve on last week’s runner-up spot. Meanwhile, Vietnam’s anonymous ‘Im so lucky’ had already lived up to his name with just three tables left, surviving a three-way all-in with kings against two opponents with aces.
When the final table kicked off, Yan’s day ended almost as soon as it began, taking a huge hit from a somewhat fortunate Kravchenko…
…and departing soon afterwards in 9th place for $176,859.
Short-stack Garbi had already doubled up twice with AA vs QQ against Aido and flopping the nut flush against Kravchenko.
He then KO’ed both Greenwood and Aido, the latter a flush over flush cooler for the Spaniard, unable to get away from the Israeli’s river shove….
Garbi: A♥ 4♥
Aido: J♥ 7♥
Flop: 4♠ K♥ 5♥
Turn: 6♥
River: 4♦
Anatski was his next victim, running aces into a flopped straight against the now-chip leader, this time Garbi’s turn 3-bet shove proving effective at getting all the chips in.
The game lasted the best part of an hour 5-handed before Vladimir Minko lost a race for his tournament life, out in 5th spot for close to $½million.
“Im so lucky” couldn’t live up to his name any longer when Kravchenko’s queens held up against Ajo and that left three players left to share out more than $3million in prizemoney.
By this time Kravchenko held 70% of the chips in play and he was bullying and stealing whenever he saw fit. Eventually he was caught with his hand in the cookie jar, but the river came to the rescue…
Garbi: A♣ Q♥
Kravchenko: 7♣ 2♣
Flop: K♦ 6♠ 6♦
Turn: 3♣
River: 7♠
Garbi’s excellent run ended, it was Kravchenko vs Vaskresenski heads-up, a 4:1 chip lead for the former.
It didn’t take long for the denouement to arrive, Kravchenko calling off three streets of betting…
…and that hand gave the Belarus player his first big win – and in one of the biggest online events!
