As we reported this week, the full schedule for the annual seven-week summer shindig in Vegas has just been released. For Daniel, it will be nose to the grindstone as he attempts to add to his six gold bracelets, and he will have 49 chances to do just that according to his own busy spreadsheet.
He told PokerNews this week, “As usual, I’m going to put in a lot of volume, focusing mainly on the high buy in events and kicking it off with a new tournament, a $100,000 Bounty event! The one I look most forward to every year is the $50K Poker Players Championship.”
The $100k buy-in Bounty Event is event #2 on this year’s schedule, the first of the 88 bracelet events open to all players, as the traditional Casino Employees tournament kickstarts the fun on May 31st.
Negreanu has 15 $10k buy-in tournaments on his list, including the Main Event of course, with another 10 tournaments with a pricetag of more than $10k. That latter list includes the $250k and $100k Super High Rollers.
It has been a long time since Daniel won gold in Vegas, way back in 2008 in fact, when he took down his 4th WSOP bracelet in the $2k limit championship. He did manage a fantastic ROI at last year’s Series despite not taking a title, some $400k up and 3rd spot in the player of the year race.

Another hugely successful element of his annual visit to the Rio are his WSOP Vlogs, which have long been a favourite for DNegs’ fans.
It’s likely they’ll be back again this year, although the Rio is no longer the venue – that honour now shared between Bally’s (soon to become the Horseshoe) and the Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino.
Meanwhile, Daniel has been keeping himself busy with a run at the PokerGO Tour events and the Aria high rollers.
“I’ve moved into the top 10 on the PGT Leaderboard with a 5th and a 4th in the last two Aria events,” Daniel tweeted out this week, adding: “Action moves to the Wynn starting March 1st. Lots of subtle things to work on and improve, but I like where my game is heading.”
There has also been a welcome return to the big screen for Daniel and his fellow legends, with High Stakes Poker dominating much of the poker news over the past couple of weeks.
Negreanu had already made it to our pages with an interesting hand from episode 1, KidPoker giving Influencer Kim “LetsGiveItASpin” Hultman something to think about.
By the sound of things, Episode 2 of the iconic televised poker show will be just as interesting…
After the show tonight I’ll jump on the @PokerGO Discord to answer questions about the episode. https://t.co/p1Zk00ya2W
