Daniel Negreanu Says 2023 Is the Worst Year of His Poker Career

Daniel Negreanu has revealed that he is on course for the worst year in his tournament poker career. The one-time leader of the all-time winners list says that age is finally starting to get to him.

Negreanu specifically wrote that luck and playing too much are the reasons for his bad performances, adding that his age means the long playing hours bring on fatigue these days.

Simply put, he can’t think as quickly and clearly as he used. Especially under time pressure.

He also wrote that playing so often leads to an apathetic feeling about any particular result. We guess this is what normally happens when you have so much money!

It’s only natural to feel more motivated when there are longer breaks between events. And for that reason, Daniel Negreanu says that he will be taking the entire month of November off to focus on preparing for the WSOP Paradise in December.

How Much Has Daniel Negreanu Lost this Year?

Daniel Negreanu reckons that he has won over the calendar year every year of his career except for one year. This year is looking like it will only be the second. Not bad going, really.

The WSOP hasn’t been so kind to him the last couple of years, though. The WSOP 2022 saw the Canadian report a $1.1 million loss and this year he dropped another $742,807.

Interestingly, Negreanu says that grinding hard at the WSOP isn’t an issue. In fact, he looks forward to it.
