Daniel Negreanu has tweeted his opinion on who is currently the best No-Limit Hold’em tournament player in the world—Jake Schindler! The Canadian has played live tournaments at the very highest level for more than two decades and knows most of the high-stakes players inside out.
I often get asked who the best NLH tourney player in the world is today and it’s an impossible question to answer without having played everyone over a large sample, but if I was forced to pick one it would be @Jake__Schindler

Is Jake Schindler really the Best MTT Player on the Planet?
As you might expect this is a very subjective question. Daniel Negreanu knows that results don’t necessarily tell the whole picture when it comes to assessing skill level.
The Twitter thread, surprisingly, didn’t degenerate into a slagging match with each poster insisting that, in fact, it is their opinion which is the correct one.
Did Negreanu Choose Jake Schindler After Getting Thrashed at the Aria this Week?
One Twitter poster was quick to point out a possible reason why Daniel Negreanu might have chosen this exact player. This was actually the guy who took him to school in a $25,000 high roller at the Aria Casino, Las Vegas, only a couple of days ago.
“This is funny. Jake’s a legend, but to pick the best with so many variables is near impossible but you just so happen to pick the guy who you dusted your stack off to yesterday lol. Classic.“
Jake Schindler took down the 27 entrant event, adding another $310,500 to his almost $26 million live winnings total.
Other posters then began to pile in on the under pressure tournament star who many feel has lost his mojo.
“What’s the biggest field Daniel has beaten for a bracelet? When was the last time Daniel won a tournament of any significance? Only asking because everyone keeps saying Phil won all his against small fields.”
Stephen Chidwick’s name obviously came up. The Brit was thought by many of his high-stakes peers to have been the best performer in tournaments over recent years.
Mike Addamo was another; suggested by Ryan Daut.
Brandon Cantu Piles the Heat on Daniel Negreanu
As if Daniel Negreanu wasn’t already feeling the pressure after losing to both Doug Polk and Phil Hellmuth, he is now under fire from scammer Brandon Cantu.
That’s not how those you stole from, scammed, and robbed would put it but “ok”
You borrowing money from anyone to play poker is akin to theft.
You never had a shot to hold on to any money.
Destined for brokedom from birth.

Cantu is well-known for borrowing huge sums from his fellow professionals and then not paying it back in true degenerate style.
After it looked for a minute that these two would get yet another high-stakes grudge match on, Negreanu pulled the rug out from underneath Cantu calling on him to repay his debts and saying he is nothing more than a deadbeat thief.
After talk of playing for entire net worth, the poker community was understandably disappointed.
