Daniel Negreanu joined the ranks of the UFO conspiracy theorists last night after seeing footage of some strange lights filmed by his mother-in-law.
This is not a joke.
This was just filmed in North Carolina by @RadioAmanda’s mom.

Describing the light in the sky as “a massive ship of some kind”, Negreanu fell for the old “if I don’t know what it is it must be an alien” line of thought.
“Lights in the sky =/= massive ship. It could just be edited footage or if it isn’t edited there are lots of things that can make light in the sky,” was poker pro Ian Simpson’s take, but DNegs wasn’t to be denied.

“Who said anything about aliens? Who? I’m asking what it is and no explanations made sense thus far,” tweeted a defensive Negreanu, seemingly unaware that the Perseid meteor shower was in the atmosphere and strange things were perhaps to be expected in the sky.
Other explanations that Negreanu wasn’t keen on were drones, satellites, high-altitude weather balloons, scintillating stars, and numerous other natural or known phenomena.
Some of his Twitter followers were keen to pick up on the conspiracy side of things, a few comments below:
- “They are here…they have been here for 1000s of years, we have been given a timeline of 2 years to get our shit together and prepare the populace for full contact.
- “It is an alien ship or a government made one.”
- “Those are government spy planes. Making sure us civilians aren’t up to no good.”
It’s not the first time Negreanu has been caught up in a conspiracy theory story, but last time out he was accusing Mike “The Mouth” Matusow of outlandish beliefs…

Matusow had gone on a Twitter spree involving Coronavirus hoaxes, the New World Order, and anti-Antifa propaganda, much of which he spoke about on his podcast “The Mouthpiece” episode entitled: “Conspiracy Theories and the Latest Poker Cheating Scandal.”
