Daniel Negreanu considering a bodyguard after a crazy woman spoke to him at the WSOP

Daniel Negreanu has asked poker Twitter if he needs a bodyguard following a bizarre encounter at the WSOP, his wife Amanda unnerved by a woman and her conspiracy theory craziness…

Although bodyguards aren’t entirely unheard of in the poker world, they are usually employed to protect the player from being robbed of the huge sums of cash they often carry around.

Daniel Negreanu’s problem is rather different, as he shared on his daily WSOP vlog yesterday…

As his video shows, Daniel was happily streaming on his break when he was interrupted by someone, and for those who can’t watch the clip that “someone” tweeted out what happened…

The follow-up tweets by Sara Palmer, who cashed in the 2018 WSOP, became increasingly unhinged:

Daniel Negreanu considering a bodyguard after a crazy woman spoke to him at the WSOP

“I said something about him wanting to vax innocent babies & he was out of there obv The WORST part, TINFOIL WAS COVERING MY ENTIRE HAT(gotta block those EMF’s) He couldn’t see my face, & wanted to see who I was so he followed me at an unnecessary pace @ 12am.”

She added the bizarre:

“@RealKidPoker’s soul/pineal is so calcified… senile & w a nasty superiority complex I sense negative ROI for him this year I forgot how short he is. I’m taller than him… Must be from watching so much tv… looked cracked out too tbh VAIDS? Now I know WHY he NEEDS an RV…”

The 5th and, for now at least, final tweet brought Daniel’s wife Amanda into the picture…

Negreanu himself wasn’t angry about the incident, but rather more concerned at the mental wellbeing of Miss Palmer – explaining his own family have had to deal with mental health issues.

Poker Twitter and Daniel’s fans were a lot less forgiving though as Palmer repeatedly tweeted made up versions of the incident, despite it being captured on camera for all to see.

As for the bodyguard issue, so far the voting is returning a resounding “no!”,  but if similar incidents occur wife Amanda may yet get her way.

Phil Ivey’s bodyguard once famously flattened a player in Bobby’s Room, video of the incident unfortunately now deleted from YouTube…

Such incidents are relatively rare in poker given the numbers that play, but the WSOP has had its share of bizarre and worrying behaviour over the years.

In 2019, Ken Strauss was DQ’d and ejected for pulling down his pants and flashing his dick during the Main Event at the Rio, then repeating his antics at the nearby Luxor.

Strauss was clearly having serious mental health issues, as he proceeded to tweets threats against Las Vegas casino and was arrested and indicted on terrorism charges.

A plea deal saw Strauss – who underwent psychiatric evaluation – placed on probation for two years. He was also barred from having any communication with Las Vegas casinos and told he must undergo mental health treatment.
