Daniel Negreanu has been tweeting about his life’s biggest regret, opening up to his followers about a time he upset his mother. The Canadian poker star says he called his mother a “fat pig” during an argument, making her cry. A moment that still sticks with him today.

My biggest regret in life happened as a teenager when I called my mother a fat pig while she was eating after an argument we had.
I saw her cry and it still haunts me to this day 30 years later.

This incident took place 30 years ago while Negreanu was still a teenager, but it clearly still affects him when he thinks about his now deceased mother.
One poster tweeted a photo of the pair together following one of Negreanu’s victories in a WPT major event.

Daniel Negreanu also opened up after his mother passed away in 2009. He explained that she had been in terrible shape, suffering for 10 months after a stroke and mild heart attack.
“She was literally the most unselfish person I’d ever met. She got so much joy out of simply feeding people. I mean that. She loved nothing more than to cook and care for people. This Christmas will be a different one for sure. She usually cooks up a massive feast that all of my friends look forward to.”
“She loved to dance and laugh. Some of my best memories as a kid were at dinner parties she’d throw at the house. As always, a monster feast, music, lots of wine and drinks… my dad telling jokes that had everyone laughing, then dancing in the living room.”
