Dan “Jungleman” Cates Publishes “Defense” to Dan Bilzerian’s Accusations – Admits Ghosting

Dan Jungleman Cates has published a defense regarding his role in the recent ghosting scandal. The high stakes star has confirmed that he was indeed helping a player who was invited to a private game online with Bill Perkins and Dan Bilzerian.

Jungleman Owns Up

When Dan Bilzerian publicly outed Jungleman as a scammer, few believed it could be true.

The details were still sketchy but we did at least have confirmation of what was going on.

Bill Perkins has been organising private games on an online poker app – “an invite only game for 500/1k 1k ante”.

He later found out that some of his opponents were using world class professionals for advice in-game, including Jungleman.

Jungleman has now published a full and frank defense of his unethical behaviour which has set off even more discussion.

Jungleman Apologises

Some might think that the tone of the apology makes it not worth reading. Jungleman was of the opinion that this was common behaviour in games on this app.

He also says that not a single hand of poker was played against Dan Bilzerian. The pair despise each other which adds a distinct edge to the situation.

On the other hand, he did play against Perkins.

“I played very few hands against Bill Perkins, who sat in a game I understood was rampant with professionals who were ghosting. I thought since many on the site were using pros to play for them (which was clear by the uniquely high level of play) at the time it felt acceptable for me to be playing.”

Jungleman does apologise to Perkins as he clearly understands how upset he is at the deception.

That said, he does feel that he is being singled out somewhat unfairly. Admitting that he should be held to a higher standard because of his status in the game, he also thinks there are many more pros who are much more guilty of this behaviour.

The response from other big names in poker showed mixed views.

Matt Glantz asked for a hands up of top pros who have never done this in their lives. He mentions “issuing purity tests you cannot pass yourself.”

Shaun Deeb was much less forgiving.

Tony Dunst took exception to Jungleman’s offer of forgiveness for those who are attacking him. Who knows what he even meant by that.

Not the First Scandal For Jungleman

Those of you who are new to the poker scene might not be aware of the last scandal Jungleman was caught up in.

All the way back in 2011 he found himself involved with Jose girah Macedo, a Portuguese prodigy who said he turned $30 into $2 million.

Jungleman and Haseeb DogIsHead Qureshi were guiding the young man and were found to have chip dumped $100,000 to him during a challenge.

girah was later caught in a huge cheating scandal involving ghosting his friends to play an account he said was an aggro fish.

It turns out that he was using screen sharing software to scam his friends.

Jungleman came out of that one relatively unscathed but Vanessa Selbst was quick to remind everyone.
