Dan Bilzerian Loses $1,000,000 in 40 Seconds by Betting Against Conor McGregor

Dan Bilzerian has lost around $1 million by betting against MMA fighter Conor McGregor.

The Irishman was making his much anticipated return to the octagon after a two year hiatus, and 39-year-old Bilzerian clearly didn’t fancy his chances.

When Conor McGregor announced his return to action, all eyes were on UFC 246. He had only been seen in an MMA ring once since his boxing loss to superstar Floyd Mayweather Jnr.

That night he lost to possibly the greatest boxer of all-time and followed it up by getting choked out by Khabib Nurmagomedov.

After retiring and then changing his mind, McGregor had sports betting fans from around the world looking to make a little profit.

Could he find the form that made him regarded as the best pound for pound MMA fighter in the world?

Dan Bilzerian was one such sports fan. And he felt that McGregor’s opponent, Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone  had the beating of him. After all, he was naturally a much bigger man.

Instagram star Bilzerian posted in his usual flashy style that he was putting a little wager on the bout.

“Puttin some pocket change on @cowboycerrone who y’all got?”

Only what he said was pocket change looked to the rest of us to be in the region of $1 million. Typical Bilzerian.

Playboy Behaviour

Dan Bilzerian has many fans. The self-styled King of Instagram continuously posts photos of his glitzy lifestyle showing off his model girlfriends and luxury cars.

For some, though, as much as they can’t stop following his lifestyle they harbour a deep resentment and love to see him get knocked down a peg or two. This $1 million loss was just what they wanted to see.

And that is what they got in only 40 seconds.

McGregor launched himself straight at Cerrone the moment the bell sounded for the opening round. Firing a monstrous straight left he missed and went directly into a clinch.

Unable to maneuver himself into a striking stance, McGregor rammed his shoulder straight into Cerrone’s nose twice, breaking it. The American looked stunned and stepped backwards trying to get out of range.

McGregor now seized his chance while Cerrone was off balance and connected with a thudding left kick to the head, sending him to the canvas.

A flurry of hard punches to the head while stood over Cerrone left the referee with no choice other than to call a halt to the fight.

And that was $1 million down the drain.

Shady Behaviour?

This might have been one of the biggest sports bets you’ve ever seen, but there might be more to it.

Dan Bilzerian has a huge following on social media and it’s difficult to escape knowing what he’s up to. It has been suggested that this was a shady move to try and shift the odds more in McGregor’s favour.

One fan opined that this was nothing more than an attempt at moving the betting line.

“Post a pic of 100k cash saying you are betting on cowboy to get people to load up and move the ML so you can actually load up on Mcgregor and win big……Genius,”

There’s no evidence that this is true, but it does make one wonder. Whatever is the truth, we can all agree that a $1 million loss isn’t going to affect Dan Bilzerian’s lifestyle one bit.
