Chance Kornuth has publicly criticised Daniel Negreanu for contacting WSOP Vice President Jack Effel to request a structure change for the $50,000 PLO event.

Chance Kornuth fires shots at Daniel Negreanu
Kornuth claims that Daniel Negreanu told the other players at his table that he sent a text message to Jack Effel to ask for the change and then bragged about when it was done.
Negreanu quickly denied that this happened, claiming that he only made contact with Effel to see what was going on with the event that had a particularly small field size.
I didn’t brag about anything. I did text Jack to find out what was happening.
Dennis told the floor 16 levels.
Jack told him 15 levels.
The 17 levels on the schedule were there in case the field was excessively large. It wasn’t.

Slippery Slope
Many poster pointed out that it is a slippery slope to allow players with a big profile in the game to influence tournament organisers once an event is under way.
It’s understandable that players such as Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth, who have been around the game for many years, build a relationship with characters such as Jack Effel, but there has to be a line that is never crossed.
“He brags about getting a starting time in one of the main flights changed in one of his blogs. Says he can make a call and it will happen.”
Phil Hellmuth, for example, has gotten away with murder with his behaviour at the table in recent years.
It’s easy to see that Jack Effel could have handed out many penalties if he wanted to but he has always shied away from making such a decision that would no doubt lead to mass controversy.
Chance Kornuth criticized for potential angle shoot
Of course it didn’t take long before somebody brought up Chance Kornuth’s own faux pas from this year’s WSOP. The American recently came under fire for moving around chips in a manner that is considered an angle shoot.
It’s also unacceptable that you angleshoot amateurs by moving chips around but no one ever said life was fair. @ikepoker and @scott_seiver can attest we’ve been laughing at you for years about it

“This is horseshit. There are clearly things you are allowed to do within the rules, that you just shouldn’t do. He wouldn’t do this vs Jason Koon. Just a cheap trick only worth trying vs an amateur. Surprised he’d do this on a televised broadcast.”
