Bryn Kenney has become the first player to break through the $70million lifetime earnings barrier courtesy of a stunning victory in the Triton Poker Monte Carlo Main Event. His $4,410,000 scoop takes his total earnings to $71,425,916.
With 99 players buying in at $125,000 apiece, along with 60 re-entries at the same eye-watering price, the total prizepool topped out at $19,875,000 for the flagship Triton Poker tournament in Monte Carlo.
The group of 27 players who would grab a slice of the pie was determined on day two, last year’s champion Matthias Eibinger among those not quite making it to the paid spots (out in 31st).
Samuel Mullur had only one big blind to his name when the bubble burst, but he somehow made it through, Ole Schemion instead blasting off his 34BB stack with a blind-on-blind, limp-jam disaster…

En route to the final table we lost a number of big names, including:
- Adrian Mateos (27th for $199,000)
- Dan Smith (19th for $239,000)
- Fedor Holz (14th for $298,000)
- Mikita Badziakouski (10th for $377,000)
Jonathan Jaffe led the final table by miles, his 101BB stack double that of second-placed Wai Leong Chan and 10x that of Austria’s Thomas Muhlocker bringing up the rear.
It was Jesse Lonis who departed first, coincidentally in a tussle with Punnat Punsri, the duo having fought out the heads-up finale of event #9 a few days ago with Lonis coming out on top that time.
Muhlocker had to settle for 8th place and $538,000 after a double blow dealt by Mosbock and Kenney, and then Ivan Leow Player of the Year, Danny Tang, ran AQ into Jaffe’s AK to fall in 7th spot.

With a $1million+ payday now locked up, the final six went on a break. When they returned, former pro footballer Mario Mosbock saw his dreams shattered by running aces into Haralabos “Bob” Voulgaris’ pocket rockets, his fumes taken by Kenney next hand.
Jaffe’s overwhelming early lead had dwindled, and he was next to fall, trapped by Chan only calling in the big blind…

When Voulgaris’ A♣ Q♣ failed to catch up with Chan’s 10♣ 10♠ and left with $1,665,000 in his back pocket, we had our podium trio of Chan, Kenney, and Punsri, but which places would they take?
Punsri was the short stack and couldn’t run it up, his final stand with Q♦ 10♦ failing against Chan’s K♦ 4♣ and suddenly we were heads-up with almost $7.4million to be shared out but a monster $1.5million difference.
Chan, looking to land his maiden Triton Poker title, looked all set to do just that…

All-in after a pre-flop raising war, Chan was relieved to avoid an ace on the flop…

…and the turn was equally pleasant…

…but the river was a horror show…

His stack crippled, Chan didn’t even get a chance to make a miraculous comeback, the very next hand seeing him lose a race with A♦ 9♣ against Kenney’s pocket sixes, and it was all over.

“Crazy” is how Kenney described his win afterwards. “It’s a bit surreal for sure. It’s amazing to be up here. Just super blessed and grateful for what the cards life gives me.”
After becoming the first player to breach the $70million lifetime earnings barrier, $43million of which has come at Triton events, the 43-year-old revealed his plans for the future.
