Action Recap

When the final table kicked off with only five players remaining, Brock Wilson had more than twice the amount of chips as his nearest rival.

Seth Davies was the first player to get knocked out, coming unstuck in a move which went wrong against Wilson.

Davies opened with A♥ 3♥ and Wilson three-bet from the small blind. Davies jammed over the top and Wilson flipped over J♠ J♦

A flush draw for Davies on the turn gave Wilson cause for concern but the blank river saw the best hand win and we were down to four players.

David Stamm started the day as the shortest of the five stacks and needed to get a move on if he had ambitions to win the event.

Before he had a chance to build momentum, his tournament would come to an end after his small blind jam with K♣ 7♠ was called by Michael Moncek who turned over A♠ 3♠ and swerved any bad news from the board.

Wilson was now firmly established as the favourite, which left John Riordan and Michael Moncek to duel it out to see if either of them could rustle up a stack large enough to challenge the leader.

In fact it was Wilson who paid off first, doubling Riordan up when his K♠ Q♣ hit a gin river card to complete his gutshot on a board of A♠ 10♦ 6♣ 9♣ J♥

Sadly for the American, he would quickly lose all those chips to Moncek and then bust out after calling off his stack with 6♦ 6♣

The board ran out A♥ 10♥ 3♥ to leave only the 6♠ as a live out which didn’t arrive.

The heads-up battle didn’t really promise much with Wilson holding a six-to-one chip advantage.

Moncek did manage to win the first couple of pots but was soon left with only ten big blinds. Shortly after he called off a jam from Wilson with Q♣ 4♣ which came up short against his K♦ 6♦  and Wilson was the latest Poker Masters champion.
