Poker pro and WSOP Bracelet Winner Brandon Cantu is reportedly in hospital with severe COVID-19. The 40-year-old, two-time WSOP bracelet winner is said to be in bad shape and requiring oxygen treatment.
It was reported that Cantu had previously checked into hospital before being sent home to isolate. The Washington State native’s condition worsened before he returned for more intense treatment. Now it looks like his friends have good reason to be concerned.
Cantu isn’t the most active poster on social media, but last year he showed some concern about where the pandemic was heading. The tweet below shows that he definitely appreciated how serious things are.

Who Is Brandon Cantu?
Brandon Cantu is normally thought of as one of the characters from before Black Friday. That said, he certainly has racked up more than his fair share of live tournament scores since that fateful day.
His WSOP bracelets came in 2006 and 2009, and were the crowning glory of his $4.4 million in live tournament winnings.
More recently he came to the attention of the poker community when he challenged Daniel Negreanu to a heads-up match for their net worth.
Oh silly Negreanu always go so personal…I say you aren’t a great hu player so minor and callus. Then you aways try 2 make things personal. Lol by scammed, robbed. you mean borrowed above my means as high stakes poker player 8 yrs ago. Guilty as charged.

The pair were having a social media spat that threatened to boil over. It turns out that Brandon Cantu has quite the reputation as a scammer in the high-stakes community, and Negreanu didn’t want to allow him to forget that.
