Bill Perkins puts up $100,000 to find the killers of Joshua Brown

Activisits call the murder of Joshua Brown an execution

Billionaire poker fanatic Bill Perkins has offered a $100k reward to help find the killer of a young man at the center of the most-talked-about murder case of the year, which activists call an execution.

Joshua Brown, a key witness in the killing of Botham Jean by ex-cop Amber Guyger in Dallas, was gunned down at his apartment complex just ten days after giving evidence.

Former hedge-fund manager Perkins is the owner of the Thirst Lounge poker streaming site and a well-known philanthropist, and tweeted his reasons for the putting up the $100k reward…

Amber Guyger was found guilty last week of the murder of Botham Jean, receiving a 10-year jail sentence for the shocking killing.

Guyger claimed she thought she was in her own apartment when she shot and killed Jean as he ate ice cream at home, one floor above Guyger’s apartment.

Joshua Brown, a close neighbor of both the victim and the murderer, broke down on the stand during his testimony. The Airbnb rental entrepreneur was said to be ‘living in constant fear of gun violence’.

Family and activists hope that Perkins’s offer of money will help bring to justice those responsible for Brown’s murder.

It’s not the first time Perkins has used his wealth to help in the search for criminals. Last year he put up $10,000 for information leading to the apprehension of the suspect in the Tom ‘3BetPanda’ Steinbach shooting.

Poker pro Steinbach was leaving the Texas Card House when he was confronted by an armed man, the popular Instagrammersuffering horrendous injuries after being shot in the robbery-gone-wrong.

Back in 2010, an anonymous black-jack playing philanthropist nicknamed ‘RobinHood702’ offered $50,000 to help catch the infamous Bellagio Biker Bandit.

The ‘biker bandit’ turned out to be Tony Carleo, the sun of a Las Vegas judge, who stole $1.5million in chips at gunpoint from a Bellagio craps table and fled on a motorbike.

The reward became a bone of contention among poker players after Matthew Brooks, known as ‘provotrout’ on the 2+2 forum, was contacted by Carleo trying to offload $25k cranberry chips.

Carleo was caught and sentenced to between nine and 27 years in prison for robbing both the Bellagio and the Suncoast casinos, though it’s unknown whether or not Robin Hood 702 paid out the $50k reward.

The poker world has seen several other incidents that have resulted in ‘rewards’ being offered, but the$50k reward offered by the legendary Vegas casino boss Benny Binion in his Dallas-days feud with Herbert ‘the Cat’ Noble was of a different sort.

With Noble, a small-time Dallas gangster looking to move up, refusing to bow to Binion’s demands for an increase in payoff, Binion put out a hit on him.

The initial $10k bounty was soon boosted to $50k and was topped up with control of a Dallas craps game. However, several attempts failed – although Noble’s wife died in a car bomb meant for her husband.

Noble was eventually ‘taken out’ two years later, in 1951, by a bomb placed close to his mailbox.
