The Five Biggest Pots of 2016

2016 was not the biggest year in regards to online high stakes poker action, but there were still some really big pots!

Lets take a look at The Five Biggest Pots of 2016 and the action that lead to them. Interestingly enough, all of them ware played on $200/$400 tables

5. Trueteller vs Educa-p0ker – $195,616 pot

In January, Spanish poker pro Andres “Educa-p0ker”Artinano crushed the online high stakes world. He made over $830,000 in that month alone. While he was doing that, he also managed to win not one, but two of the five biggest pots of the year.

Lets take a look at the first and the smallest one first. Educa-p0ker was playing a player named Trueteller in this one. Trueteller opened his Small blind with AQo, Educa-p0ker decided to go for a 3-bet with his AKo, Trueteller calls.

The flop comes 7 9 A rainbow. Educa-p0ker continues, Trueteller calls. The turn is a King, giving Educa-p0ker top two pair. With this monster of a hand, Educa-p0ker managed to extract maximum value with Trueteller calling his Turn and River bets.

4. Ravenswood13 vs Chilax Chuck – $200,634 pot

One of the biggest pots and the only PLO hand on our list was played between Ravenswood13 and Chilax Chuck. The latter went on to be the biggest winner of the day on PokerStars, after loosing this pot.

Lets take a look at how it went down. Chilax Chuck started of by 4-betting preflop with his Td Jd Qd Kc and went all in on a Js 8s 2c flop.

Ravenswood13 did not hesitate calling him of, holding top pair and a nut-flush draw with As 3s 5c Jc. The Turn and River changed nothing and Ravenswood13 took down the forth largest pot of the year.

3. Trueteller vs  Fedor “CrownUpGuy” Holz – $212,189 pot

On third place is a hand that is not interesting due to the way it played out, but due to some rant in the chat that followed. CrownUpGuy held pocket Kings and Trueteller flopped a set of fours. The cooler ended with Trueteller scooping up a $212,189 pot.

At this point, the hand got interesting. Fedor typed “lol” into the chatbox and that triggered Trueteller and he contributed to the chat saying “do you think you are earned [sic] to win every hand? The better player won”

2. Educa-p0ker vs Trueteller ( Round 2 ) – $212,815 pot

As mentioned before, January was the month of Educa-p0ker. The second biggest pot of the year was also the biggest in Educa-p0ker’s career and he won it with Aces.

It was a 3-way pot that was 4-bet preflop. The flop came K 4 T and Trueteller bet. Kanu7 folded, Educa-p0ker just called. Trueteller saw a Queen on the Turn as the optimal spot for a shove with his Jacks. Educa-p0ker called with this AA and took down the pot.

1.     Trueteller vs Educa-p0ker ( Round 3 ) – $236,399 pot

We are already at the biggest of them all. The biggest pot of 2016 was actually played just before the previously described one.

The hand began with Trueteller just flating his small blind and that is where things started to heat up. Educa-p0ker decided to raise with his Ks Qs and Trueteller 3-bet him with 8d 7d, building a huge pot.

The flop came 6d Js 10c, Trueteller bet half pot, Educa-p0ker called. The turn was a 3d, giving Trueteller a flush draw and he decided to continue barreling. The River completed Truetellers flush and Educa-p0kers straight with 9d. Trueteller shoved and Educa-p0ker paid him off.
