While the 2018 WSOP in the RIO is the poker highlight of the year in Las Vegas, it won’t be the only casino, which hosts huge tournament series with massive guarantees.
In fact, there are hundreds of fantastic tournaments to enter away from the Rio. That’s why the aim of this article is to provide a list of the best tournaments outside the 2018 WSOP.
DeepStack Extravaganza III – 14 May – 29 July
The DeepStack Extravaganza in the Venetian is regarded by many poker players as the best alternative to the WSOP. It lasts an incredible 2.5 months and boosts a staggering 150 events with a total guaranteed prize pool of $31 Million! GOLIATH Phamous Poker Series – 24 May – 15 July
The GOLIATH Phamous Poker Series in the Planet Holywood is one of the best low buy-in tournament series during this year’s World Series of Poker. ARIA Poker Classic 2018 – 25 May – 8 July
The ARIA Poker Classic is a great low buy-in alternative to the World Series of Poker. It focuses on affordable No-Limit Hold’em tournaments with buy-ins ranging from only $150 up to $1,100 for the 2-Day event. Absolute highlight is the WPT 500, which has a $570 buy-in and nine starting days from June 25 to July 1. ARIA Summer High Roller Series – 25 May – 8 July
Parallel to the ARIA Poker Classic runs the ARIA Summer High Roller Series. It features not less than 21 High Roller Events with buy-ins ranging from $10,000 up to $100,000. With the exception of one two-day $100,000 event, these are all single-day events.
Golden Nugget Grand Poker Series – 29 May – 3 July
The Golden Nugget Grand Poker Series is the biggest and best tournaments in downtown Las Vegas. It runs from 29th of May 29 to 3rd of July 3 and offers a lot of exotic games such as BIG O or A-5/2-7/Badugi mix. Highlight is of course the $570 Main Event on June 29 – 30, which has a $500,000 Guarantee and attracted more than 2,000 players last year.
Wynn Summer Classic – 1 June – 16th July
The Wynn is not only one of the best poker room in Sin City, it also offers a great tournament series during the WSOP. The Wynn Summer Classic is legendary and includes 37 No-Limit Hold’em events with buy-ins between $400 and $1,600 for the Main Event, which boosts a massive $1.5 Million Guarantee!
