The Best Hands of High Stakes Poker Season 9 Episode 7 – Garrett Adelstein wins a massive $335,500 Pot

Cash game fans are long-familiar with Garrett Adelstein as he has been crushing at Live at the Bike and Hustler Casino Live for a long time. Now he leaves his mark on High Stakes Poker Season 9 by being not only the biggest winner, but also winning the largest pot worth a whopping $335,500 against JRB.

Line-up of High Stakes Poker Season 9 Episode 7:

The stakes have been raised  being raised from NL$200/$400 to NL$500/$1,000 before the start of this episode, so we can eexpect much bigger pots moving forward.

Poker legends Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, Bryn Kenney and JRB take the seats of Patrik Antonius, Doyle Brunson, Kim Hultman and Xuan Liu. Making the line-up one of the toughest in High Stakes Poker history:

  • Tom Dwan
  • Phil Ivey
  • Daniel Negreanu
  • Bryn Kenney
  • Garrett Adelstein
  • JRB
  • Jennifer Tilly
  • Krish

Garrett fails to bluff Bryn Kenney of Two Pair: $109,000 Pot

JRB open-raises from Under The Gun to $2,500 with {3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}, Bryn Kenney calls from the cut-off with {q-Hearts}{4-Hearts} as do Jennifer Tilly with {a-Clubs}{8-Spades} and Garrett Adelstein with {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} from the blinds. Pot Size: $11,000

The flop comes {q-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} giving Bryn top and Garrett middle pair. JRB decides to make a continuation bet of $6,000  with third pair after getting checked to. Kenney and Adelstein call and Tilly gets out of the way. Pot Size: $29,000

The {4-Spades} on the turn is a very interesting card as it makes Bryn Two Pair, while JRB and Garrett both pick up a straight draw to go alongside their pair, but surprisingly everybody checks. Pot Size: $29,000

{10-Spades} on the river and now Garrett leads out with a big $40,000 overbet probably sensing weakness after everybody checked the turn. JRB quickly folds, but Bryn Kenney has Two Pair and makes the call to win a nice $109,000 Pot.

One of the very few missteps by Garrett Adelstein in High Stakes Poker Season 9 so far.

Garrett turns Top Two against JRB’s flopped Top Pair Top Kicker: $142,000 Pot

JRB raises UTG with {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}  to $3,000 and gets four callers, one of them being Garrett Adelstein with {k-Spades}{j-Clubs}. Pot Size: $16,000

5-way to a flop of {3-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, which spells trouble for Adelstein as he flops top pair with a good kicker, but JRB has him crushed with Top Top. Garrett bets $8,000 and Bellande just calls, everybody else folds. Pot Size: $32,000

On the {k-Diamonds} Garrett hits his three-outer! What a card for Adelstein, who gets tricky by checking. Bellande makes a big bet of $25,000 (78% pot).

When the action comes back to Garrett, he makes a large check-raise to $85,000 and after tanking for almost 40 seconds JRB folds his hand.

Garrett Adelstein picks up a nice $142,000 pot and continues to pull away from the rest.

Garrett turns the Nuts and JRB Top Two: $335,500 Pot

Krish, who went on a massive heater in Episode 6, limps UTG with {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}, Garrett raises to $4,000 from middle position with {k-Spades}{10-Spades}, Tom Dwan calls from late position with {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, as does JRB with {q-Clubs}{j-Spades} from the button, while Krish completes as well. Pot Size: $18,500

4-way to the action flop of {j-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. Krish checks, Adelstein makes a standard continuation bet of $9,000 and both Dwan and Bellande call, while Krish check-folds. Pot Size: $45,500

The {q-Spades} on the turn is the absolute gin card for Adelstein as he not only turns the Nuts, but JRB also Top Two. Garrett fires a $20,000 second barrel, Dwan folds and Bellande quickly calls. Pot Size: $85,500

The {3-Hearts} on the river is a blank. Garrett again goes for a big overbet of 1.5x pot worth a whopping $125,000. JRB has only $170,000 behind, so the bet is for most of his stack, but he can’t get away from a hand as strong as Two Pair.

Unfortunately for JRB, Garrett Adelstein turns over the stone-cold Nuts to win the biggest pot of High Stakes Poker Season 9 worth a staggering $335,500.
