The Best Hands of High Stakes Poker Season 9 Episode 11 – Eric Persson Owns The Pros

In the last episode Krish won the largest pot of High Stakes Poker Season 10 and amateur Eric Persson made a very gutsy bluff with 7-2 Offsuit. This time he followed up with some nice bluffs and speech play owing the pros.

Line-up of High Stakes Poker Season 9 Episode 11:

They are playing 8-max NL$500/$1,000, which guarantees more action and much bigger pots from here on.

We continue with exactly the same line-up as in High Stakes Poker Season 9 Episode 10:

  • Tom Dwan
  • Phil Ivey
  • Bryn Kenney
  • Garrett Adelstein
  • Patrik Antonius
  • Krish
  • Eric Persson
  • Stanley Tang

Krish makes a questionable Call vs. Stanley Tang: $326,500 Pot

Krish raises UTG to $3,000 with 6♥6♦ and gets four callers, one of them being Stanley Tang with 3♦3♣ in the big blind. Pot Size: $16,500

The flop comes A♦3♥10♣ giving Tang bottom set, but it gets checked around. Pot Size: $16,500

4♥ on the turn and Tang checks his set for a second time. Krish is next to act and he decides to take a $9,000 stab at the pot. Everybody folds to Stanley Tang, who check-raises to $35,000 and for whatever reason Krish calls the check-raise with third pair. Pot Size: $86,500

Q♣ on the river and Stanley can’t check any longer. He goes for an overbet of $120,000 evoking a “That smells fishy” from Krish, who does make the call with Pocket Sixes!

Stanley Tang turns over his set and gets maximum value for it in form of a large $326,500 Pot.

Garrett Adelstein makes an excellent Fold against Bryn Kenney: $423,000 Pot

Garrett Adelstein raises from UTG+1 to $3,000 with 10♣7♣ and gets three callers. Among them is Bryn Kenney with K♥10♥. Pot Size: $13,000

4-way to the action flop of 6♥A♥9♠, which gives Bryn the nut flush draw and both Garrett and Stanley inside straight draws. Adelstein makes a $5,000 continuation bet and both Tang and Kenney call, while Dwan folds. Pot Size: $28,000

Garrett binks the straight on the 8♠ turn, while Kenney adds a gutshot to his nut flush draw. Bryn checks and Garrett fires a $25,000 second barrel with the Nuts. Tang gets out of the way, Kenney could raise here with his combo draw, but decides to just call. Pot Size: $78,000

The 2♥ on the river completes Bryn’s flush, but he checks! Adelstein makes an almost pot size value bet of $75,000, but to his dismay he gets a large check-raise to $270,000.

Garrett still has the nut flush draw, but has to think about what hands check-raise here on the river and he comes to the correct conclusion that only a Flush does. After tanking for a while, Garrett makes a great laydown and Bryn Kenney wins a $432,000 Pot.

Flopped Flush vs. Middle Set: Eric Persson vs. Bryn Kenney: $456,500 Pot

Amateur poker player and Maverick casino owner Eric Persson already won a nice pot against Tom Dwan and also got some bluffs through beforehand. And his hot streak continues to win the largest pot of episode 11.

Persson open-raises from the cut-off to $3,000 with K♣Q♣ and Bryn Kenney is the lone caller on the button with 5♥5♦. Pot Size: $8,500

The 4♣10♣5♣ flop spells trouble for Bryn, who does flop middle set, but is way behind against the flush from Eric Persson, who makes a $4,000 cbet. Kenney quickly raises to $15,000 and Eric makes it $29,000 to go posting a “You got the flush, huh” from Bryn, but he obviously makes the call and just like that there is $66,500 in the pot.

Bryn needs the board to pair, but it doesn’t on the K♦ turn and Persson makes an almost bets the pot with $62,000 into $66,500. Kenney calls. Pot Size: $190,500

A♠ on the river and Eric puts Bryn All-In for his remaining $133,000. Nasty spot for Kenney as GTO dictates to call here with a flopped set and this is what he does just to get shown the flush by Eric Persson, who wins a monster $456,500 pot.
