Lineup of High Stakes Poker Season 8 Episode 4

Here is the lineup of High Stakes Poker Season 8 Episode 4:

  • Tom “durrrr” Dwan
  • Bryn Kenney
  • Rick Salomon
  • Nick Petrangelo
  • Lynne Ji (HSP Debut)
  • Brandon Steven

They are playing NL$400/$800 6-max with a straddle and minimum buy-in of $200,000.

Tom Dwan vs. Jean-Robert Bellande : $255,300 Pot

The biggest pot of High Stakes Poker Season 8 Episode 4 was played by no one else but the legend himself Tom “durrrr” Dwan.

JRB raises from UTG after a straddle with 6♠5♠ to $4,000 and Tom 3-bets from the small blind to $17,000 with 7♣5♣. Bellande calls and everybody else gets out of the way. Pot Size: $37,200

Given the preflop action and that two lose opponents are clashing the flop of 10♦6♦3♥ has a lot of potential. Dwan picks up a gutshot and having the initiative he continues for $25,000. JRB has flopped middle pair with a backdoor straight draw and can’t fold to a single bet. Call. Pot Size: $87,200

The 8♠ is a spicy turn card as “durrrr” now has an open-ended straight draw. Since he picked up a draw and quite some equity this card is perfectly suited for a second barrel. Tom agrees and even puts JRB to the test for all his chips putting him all-in for $168,000.

Bellande goes deep into the tank stating he puts Dwan on A♦Q♦ put then talks himself out of it and ultimately folds.

2-1

JRB makes a great call – JRB vs. Lynne Ji: $147,600

JRB was also involved in the most interesting hand of High Stakes Poker episode vs. Lynne Ji. After a straddle and re-straddle to $3,200 Ji open-raised to $8,400 holding Q♣10♣. Rick Salomon makes a very loose call with 10♥8♦ and JRB now has quite an easy call with 8♠8♣. Pot Size: $27,600

3-handed to a flop of 9♠6♣K♥, which makes both Lynne and Rick a gutshot and Jean-Robert third pair, which is still the best hand. Ji makes a cbet of $16,000, JRB quickly calls and Salomon folds. Pot Size: $59,600

The 4♠ on the river is none of Lynne’s outs and the only way for her to win the pot is to bet. That’s what she does and she chooses a sizing of 74% pot by betting $44,000 into $59,600.

Usually that would be a nice bet by Lynne and a fold for JRB, wouldn’t Ji had already showed two bluffs and also got caught speeding in previous episodes. JRB remembers that, which is probably the reason, why he decides to make the call with third pair, and he is good.

Great call by Jean-Robert Bellande and a good example why it is very important in live poker to play the player and always observe their tendencies and betting patterns.

1-3

Trips vs. Two Pair – Bryn Kenney vs. Jean-Robert Bellande: $131,000

In the very first hand of High Stakes Poker season 12 episode 4, Bryn Kenney puts JRB into a difficult spot. Bellande open-raised from the Hijack to $3,000 holding K♦J♣ and Kenney called from the button with 10♠7♠. Pot Size: $8,000

Heads-up to a flop of Q♣J♥7♣, which gives both players a pair. JRB continues for $3,000 and Bryn calls, which is pretty standard. Pot Size: $14,000

Bryn binks it on the 7♥ turn, which is a dangerous card for JRB as Kenney’s trips are well-disguised. Bellande fires a second barrel of $8,000 as the board is pretty wet and he probably puts Bryn on a draw. The more surprised he looks, when Bryn announces raise to $32,000. JRB is still not convinced that Bryn Kenney has a made hand and calls. Pot Size: $78,000

The K♣ on the river makes JRB Two Pair, but also completes the flush draw and 109 for the straight, so Bellande checks. Bryn has a value bet here and goes for a 2/3 pot sizing betting $53,000 into $78,000.

JRB tanks for over a minute, mumbling “You do deserve a call” referring to Bryn’s loose-aggressive style. In the end he folds though, which is the right decision.
