- James Bord
- John Andress

Doug Polk makes the Fold of the Year against Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth raises UTG with Q♠T♥ to $1,100, James Bord calls from the button with 2♥2♣ and so does Doug Polk with 10♦7♣ from the big blind. Pot Size: $3,900
3-way to the monster flop of J♠9♠8♥, which gives both Polk and Hellmuth the straight, while the latter has the Nuts. They check to Bord, who takes a $2,000 stab at the pot. Doug Polk check-raises to $7,000 and Phil Hellmuth quickly moves All-in for $97,200.
James folds and Doug asks for a count, before turning over his hand. You might think this is an insta-call with the flopped Second Nuts, but Polk goes into the tank for almost three minutes and then says: “I think I am dead a lot or you have a ton of equity against me. Nah, this is just a fold” before throwing away his hand!
Brandon Steven yells: “Are you crazy right now? Oh my god!” and Phil Hellmuth refuses to show his hand, when being asked.
We know that Doug made the right decision. He and Hellmuth have a lot of history and he is pretty certain that Phil only takes this line with the nuts or top set as Hellmuth plays incredibly tight, if not to say nitty in high stakes cash games.
Nevertheless, it takes a lot to throw away the flopped Second Nuts and the insane thing is that it is the correct decision in this spot. Insane fold and hand!

Set over Set – John Andress vs. James Bord: $203,200 Pot
The biggest pot of High Stakes Poker Season 8 Episode 12 was a classic cooler. James Bord raises from UTG+1 to $1,100 with 7♥7♣ and John Andress looks at A♠A♦ on the button. This is an absolute dream spot in a cash game and he bumps it up to $3,500, Bord calls. Pot Size: $8,000
7♦Q♣5♦ and James Bord flops a set. Nasty spot for John with the Aces. James checks, John bets $2,000, Bord check-raises to $10,000 and Andress calls. Pot Size: $28,000
The 4♠ doesn’t change much and now James Bord leads out with an overbet of $30,000. John could easily go All-in here, but elects to just call again. Pot Size: $88,000
A♥ on the river is as brutal as it gets for James Bord, who announces All-in and John Andress snap-calls for his remaining $57,000. Pot Size: $203,200
A very unlucky runout for James Bord, earns John Andress a huge $203,200 pot.
James Bord bluffs Phil Hellmuth off Pocket Kings with 72!
But this was not the only big hand James Bord was involved with as he also clashed with the Poker Brat Phil Hellmuth.
Phil Hellmuth tries one of his old school traps by limping with KK♦ and James Bord raises from the button to $2,000 with 7♦2♦. Phil just calls. Pot Size: $5,000
The flop 4♣6♣A♦ is not what Hellmuth wanted to see and he consequently checks. James makes a continuation bet of $3,000 and the Poker Brat quickly calls and then checks in the dark. Pot Size: $11,000
The 6♦ on the turn is the perfect card for a second barrel as Bord picks up a Flush Draw. Hellmuth checks and James goes for the overbet with $15,000.
Phil Hellmuth mumbles: “It doesn’t feel fair. It is quite unfair, man!” before releasing his hand and James Bord replies: “Good Fold” and shows him the 72.
Big laughter in the room and Hellmuth is steaming.
