Israel’s Barak Wisbrod bagged his second GGMillion$ SHR title last night with an emphatic heads-up win over Tony Lin, scooping $390,260.
The weekly highroller on GGPoker drew in 192 entries, the $10k buy-in producing a healthy $1.92million prizepool with six 6-figure payouts up top.
By the time Sunday night ended there were nine beasts of the virtual green baize remaining, including the still-unconfirmed Russian “spaise411”, who may or may not be Moscow gaming millionaire Alexey Rybin.
With Jeff Gross joined in the livestream commentary booth by Steve Enriquez, the scene was set for a barnstorming finale. Chinese pro Ding Biao came in just ahead of Wisbrod in chips, with “spaise411” bringing up the rear with Mark Radoja.
No Win for Brazil
Radoja bowed out early thanks to Biao but it was Brazilian beast Vieira who left next…
Biao: A♣ K♣
Vieira: Q♦ Q♠
Vieira on the button 3-bet Biao’s cut-off open and then called off the Chinese pro’s 4-bet shove…
Flop: 5♥ 10♣ 5♠
Turn: K♠
River: 4♦
The Russian player fell in 7th when his AJ on an AA10 flop ran into Jesse Lonis with AQ and that left the remaining sextet with $115k locked up and more than 3x that sum up top.
Yuri Dzivielevski was Brazil’s second final tablist, boasting 45 cashes worth $4.5million+ from 157 appearances, including 3 wins from 27 final tables.
His hopes of a 4th GGMillion$ victory ended when he put his faith and last million chips (about 12BBs) on K♠ J♠ but couldn’t improve against “Tony” Ren Lin’s A♣ 6♠
Despite Wisbrod sitting with just 5BBs, Juan Pardo Dominguez decided to shove his last 7BBs UTG, knowing the painful blinds were about to hit him. An overshove from Lonis on the button led to a showdown…
Dominguez: A♦ 10♥
Lonis: 9♥ 9♣
Flop: 8c: 6♦ 3♣
Turn: 5♠
River: 2♥
From fumes to victory…
Wisbrod, on fumes, somehow survived a 3-outer on the river and doubled again into a safe second spot in chips and it was Ding Biao who fell short of the podium, A♣ J♣ losing to Lin’s pocket 3s.
Lonis’ departure in 3rd spot was a nasty affair, getting it in behind, flopping top two, only to see Wisbrod go runner, runner straight…
Heads-up started with Lin holding a 2:1 lead but there is little you can do against luck and Wisbrod had it when it mattered.
A 5-bet shove on the flop with a gutshot and backdoor flush draw saw runner-runner clubs for another huge pot, after which Lin was simply steamrollered into submission. The end came with an uninspiring Ax vs Kx hand and an ace-high flop that gave Wisbrod the win.
