Artur Martirosian Picks Up $900k Triton Bounty Quattro Win

The poker fans following the Triton Poker stop in Monte Carlo may be focused on the $100k and $200k buy-ins, but for the players every event is a chance to shine. Russia’s Artur Martirosian did just that, scooping the $30k Bounty Quattro Turbo for $891,000.

With 105 entries (77 unique), a $3.15million prizepool, 17 paid spots, and a Turbo format, it didn’t take long to get to the money, with Adrian Mateos basically providing a triple KO to end the bubble before it really began.

Mateos took out Ole Schemion when his pocket deuces flopped a boat, crippling Benjamin Chalot in the process, and next hand turned a flush to finish off Chalot and also take out Dominykas Mikolaitis.

With $33k sewn up, a slew of players departed, including:

  • Brian Kim (15th for $35,000)
  • Dan Smith (12th for $38,000)
  • Danny Tang (11th for $43,000 + $40,000 in bounties)

The final table of nine saw Jamil Wakil top the chip counts with 49BBs all the way down to Martirosian  with just 7 BBs, his compatriot Nikita Kuznetsov only having 10 BBs.

Neither Russian would be departing anytime soon, though, and indeed Martirosian was among the executioners, a four-way all-in accounting for Paulius Vaitiekunas and Espen Jorstad, the basics of the hand below:

Paulius Vaitiekunas: A♥ 9♠

Espen Jorstad: A♠ J♥

Martorisian: :8x: :8x:

Board: :ax: :xx: :xx: :xx: :8x:

Martirosian then found A♣ Q♥ to dispose of Ben Tollerene, A♥ K♥ to fell David Benefield, and then 5♥ 3♥ and a straight to send both Mateos and Ren Lin to the rail.

The other Russian, Kuznetsov, stepped up to account for Wakil in third and remarkably the two shortest stacks starting the final table were heads-up for the title.

The pendulum swung to and fro for a while, but eventually Martirosian got it all-in in with 9♥ 10♥ against Kuznetsov’s 5♣ K♠, hitting two nines and taking yet another bounty as well as the Quattro Bounty Turbo title.
