The race for the US Poker Open overall title is heating up with Aram Zobian grabbing a $264,290 victory in event #6, followed by Eric Afriat scooping the $288,000 top prize in event #7
Rhode Islander Zobian already had second and third place finishes to his credit coming into the first $15k buy-in event of the 8-tournament highroller series at the PokerGO Studios in the Aria.
There were 62 entries from which only the top nine finishers would find a cash from the $930,000 prizepool, as well as all-important leaderboard points towards the Golden Eagle Trophy and $25,000 PGT Passport bonus.
Daniel Negreanu made it to the money for the second time this series, but again he couldn’t push further. Losing with pocket 10s against his nemesis, Brock Wilson, with pocket deuces saw “DNegs” eliminated in 9th spot for a $27,900 payday.
The final table started with a bang as John Andress was coolered to the rail in 6th spot, running his big slick into Joey Weissman’s pocket rockets on the very first hand.
Weissman outlasted Dan Shak but couldn’t reach the podium, Zobian flushing him out in 4th spot, and then eliminating Wilson in 3rd to reach heads-up against Sam Laskowitz.
An ICM deal was struck that left $20,000 on the table to play for and that went Zobian’s way as both men hit the river hard, all the chips predictably going in the middle with Laskowitz at risk…

Laskowitz fell in 4th to Chidwick when a river bluff went all wrong, but the Englishman then had to settle for 3rd spot when he ran into Weissman and got a tad unlucky…
