Allen Kessler Accused of Scamming Shaun Deeb in Markup Saga

Allen Kessler and Shaun Deeb are back at each other’s throats again. This time it’s a perceived sly move over buying back action already sold at markup.

Allen Kessler

This pair have a long history of falling out on social media. Most lately it has been all about Allen Kessler being a losing tournament player and Shaun Deeb reprising his role as the self-appointed markup police.

The spat started innocuously enough, as it usually does. Kessler was replying to a poll asking what tilts you the most, stating “Scammers and general low lifes who always seem to find a way to be in action”.

It took only a few hours before Deeb and others started the pile on.

Deeb’s point is that Allen Kessler is a losing player, in his opinion and that of many others who know what they’re talking about.

If that’s the truth, then it must be unethical to sell action at markup value without making that clear.

Kessler’s reply was that because he has “plenty of money” and his “record is posted”, this is all ok. No defending his poker skills at this point.

Deeb asked him why he sold at all, if he’s so rich. Stating that they both know the answer.

Allen Kessler Offers to Buy His Own Action from Shaun Deeb

It took a few hours, but Allen Kessler responded in the best way. He directly challenged Shaun Deeb to let him buy his own action through him.

The deal would be he can choose whatever mixed games events he likes for the remainder of the year. And he also gave warning that he is the reigning champion in five of the upcoming tournaments.

Deeb pointed out immediately that this is a grift whereby Kessler can sell with markup to “idiots” and buy back the action at par through him. That’s not going to happen, he wrote.

As is usual, Kessler refuses to take anybody else’s point of view and says it’s just fine because he’s buying a whole new tournament’s worth of action through Deeb.

Whatever happens in the PokerStake side of things is irrelevant, according to Kessler.

Deeb, clearly frustrated now, even told Kessler that he can have the action from him at 1.2, pointing out that it’s just stealing from his backers otherwise.

But again he wouldn’t have it!

Interestingly, Shaun Deeb is now trying to arrange a time for he and Kessler to make an appearance together to air their grievances in public. Let’s hope this gets arranged.

This means that all monetary transfers are done automatically and there can be absolutely no shenanigans when it comes to paying out by either party.

For those who are new to poker, staking is a way for players to either back a player for a share of the profits, or to sell action in order to be able to play bigger events without the additional risk.

GGPoker charges no fees for this service and all profit is immediately credited to the buyer’s account.

Now, with the upcoming World Series of Poker, there will be ample opportunity to get stuck in and back some of your favourite players and even your friends.

You might even want to consider buying action from an unknown player who provides evidence of their playing history.
