With 185 entrants and a $1,850,000 prizepool, the weekly $10k buy-in SHR on GGPoker had its usual assortment of nosebleed MTT players battling with those stepping up to test themselves against the world’s best.

By the time Tuesday night’s final table came around only 9 players were in the mix for the title, but they included some very serious contenders.

Artur Martirosian, with close to $10million in GGMillion$ winnings alone, was joined by the likes of Benjamin Rolle, Adrian Mateos and Alexander Tkatschew.

Brazil was, as usual, represented at the deep end, with Alisson Piekazewicz and Santiago “CometoBrazil” Plante, alongside Russian, Ukrainian and UK-based players.

Calling the action on the GGPoker livestream was Jeff Gross, this week alongside Fedor Holz sharing his high-class take on play.

Igor Popyk was first to fall when his big slick failed to improve against Pais’ ladies, and then Martirosian departed after a monster bluff was snapped off…

Martirosian: K♣ Q♥

Tkatschew: 10♠ 10♦

Martirosian raised pre against Tkatschew’s big blind and then fired all three streets…

Flop: 7♣ 3♠ 3♦

Turn: 2♠

River: 2♣

…but Tkatschew snapped off the overbet river shove to KO one of the biggest players in the online game.

When Piekazewicz picked up queens and found his 4-bet raised he was committed to playing things out but it was the dreaded aces in Meshkovs’ hands and there would be no reprieve.

The top six were all looking at 6-figure paydays and the first of those went to Tkatschew, getting it in good with A♠ K♥ against Pais’ A♦ 3♦ but a trey on the turn proved enough to send the German packing.

Five-handed play lasted an hour-and-a-half, ending when Rolle lost a race with pocket treys against Meshkov’s AQoff.

The dam had bust and with the blinds playing a big role, Pais found his ace outkicked, 4th spot and $181,264 still an excellent showing.

Meshkovs’ almost fell when all-in at risk with pocket deuces against pocket 4s, but a rivered second pair on the board meant a split pot. It didn’t help him though as the very next hand saw him all-in and this time no saviour arriving.

A $231,180 cash softened the blow considerably and that left Mateos heads-up against Santiago “Come2Brazil” Plante.

Both men were playing under the Mexican flag, Mateos looking for his 4th GGMillion$ title win and Plante hoping to repeat his recent success on New Year’s Eve. The second hand of heads-up play decided matters:

Adrian Mateos: Q♠ Q♦

“Come2Brazil”: A♣ 3♠

Mateos, on the button, just called Sante’s 3-bet and they took a flop…

Flop: 3♥ 8♥ 4♠

Sante led out ¼-pot but when faced by Mateos’ 3-bet he decided just to rip it with bottom pair and 5 outs if he was caught on the hop… which he was!

Turn: 6♦

River: J♦

No luck on the runout and it was Mateos who had taken down his 4th GGMillion$ title.
