Jon Letzkus shot from the MGM Signature Towers onto the Strip
As reported by local press, an active shooter incident was called after between 30 and 40 shots were fired from a balcony on the 25th floor of the MGM Signature Towers at 5.55am.
Police and SWAT teams were soon on the ground and it didn’t take long before they let the public know who they were looking for, with 45-year-old Jon Letzkus in the frame.

Almost five hours later, police apprehended Letzkus outside the high-rise hotel, stating there was “no further public safety threat”.
No injuries were reported from the incident Metro Deputy Chief Dori Koren confirmed at a press conference around 12:15 p.m.
He added that a “handgun” had been recovered and “multiple rounds fired”, with several structures in the area damaged by the gunfire.
The horror of the October 1st, 2017, Route 91 Harvest music festival is still relatively fresh in the Vegas memory.
That saw horrific mass shooting saw 64-year-old Stephen Paddock open fire on crowds from the 32nd-floor of the Mandalay bay hotel, killing 60 people and injuring 413 more.
Jon Letzkus appears to be a small-stakes live and online player, with $14,807 in live tournament winnings dating back over a decade.
His biggest cash of $5570 came at the 2013 LA Poker Open and his most recent a $4847 scoop at the 2023 PacWest Poker Classic in Lincoln City.
One of his four WSOP cashes came during the ‘pandemic series’ of 2020.
Court records show that Jon Letzkus has so far been charged with one offence, a felony relating to “Ownership or possession of firearm by certain persons prohibited.”
