Poker Hand of the Week Setup
We are at the final table of the 2023 WPT World Championship with massive pay jumps ahead and there are still the final six players remaining.
Blinds are 600,000/1,200,000 with a 1,200,000 big blind Ante and chip leader Andrew Lichtenberger aka “LuckyChewy” has Daniel Sepiol easily covered.
Poker Hand of the Week Action
Preflop:
Chip leader Andrew Lichtenberger min-raises from the cut-off with A♦10♦ and Daniel Sepiol 3-bets from the button with K♥10♥ to 6,200,000. It folds to LuckyChewy, who makes the call. Pot Size: 15,400,000
Flop:
Heads-up to a monotone flop of 4♠3♥3♦. Chewy checks and Sepiol cbets very small with 3,500,000 (23% pot) and Lichtenberger check-calls.. Pot Size: 22,400,000
Turn:
The 9♦ on the turn is a very interesting as favorable card for Lichtenberger as he picks up the nut flush draw.
Daniel Sepiol shows no signs of slowing down though by firing a 8,200,000 second barrel and Chewy check-calls again. Pot Size: 38,800,000
River:
The third 3♣ on the river is another interesting card as now every pair has made a full house.
Andrew checks for a third time over to Daniel, who only has King-high and 21,000,000 in chips behind.
Sepiol decides to empty the clip by announcing All-in. LuckyChewy thinks for a few seconds before folding and Daniel Sepiol wins a large 59,800,000 pot.
Poker Hand of the Week Analysis
Beautiful Triple Barrel Bluff by Daniel Sepiol, which at the same time was the key hand at the final table and paved his way to victory.
Spectacular hand and bluff by Daniel Sepiol. Let’s go through it step by step.
We are in a cut-off vs. button scenario and LuckyChewy is massive chip leader at the start of the hand. That means Sepiol knows that he will be opening lots of hands and this range is very wide.
That’s why he 3-bets Kh10h here preflop. However, Lichtenberger does have a hand and Sepiol dominated with Ad10d.
Heads-up to a very dry flop of 4s3h3d. This is the kind of flop texture, where you want to continuation bet small, which is what Daniel does by betting only 23% pot.
Ace-high is however often the best hand on this kind of flop and Chewy understandably takes one off.
The 9d is a bad card for Sepiol and a great card for Lichtenberger as he adds the nut flush draw to his overcards.
Daniel could slow down here by checking behind, but continues to tell his story of a big hand by firing a 53% second barrel, which is clearly intended to make Chewy folds, which doesn’t work.
The 3c on the river is interesting as any pocket pair, which Daniel represented, has now a full house. Nevertheless, it doesn’t change really change the board structure and Ace-high can therefore still be the best hand here.
Tony G would say Daniel Sepiol now needs Heart and that’s what he shows by going for the Triple Barrel All-in bluff on the river by moving his remaining 21,000,000 chips (54% pot) into the middle.
Chewy now can’t really call any longer and even though he seems to suspect something, he has to fold his hand and Sepiol wins a large and key hand.
Poker Hand of the Week Conclusion
Beautiful Triple Barrel Bluff by Daniel Sepiol, which at the same time was the key hand at the final table and paved his way to victory.
It takes a lot of heart to empty the clip over three streets on a huge final table, where the pay jumps are worth seven-figures.
Nevertheless, if you decide to go for it, then you also have to tell the story of a big hand to the end.
Sepiol has done that in a credible way and that’s why the bluff worked, and he got rewarded big time in the end.
