CHIP COUNTS AT The Start of Day 2:
Seat | Player | Country | Chip Count | Big Blinds |
1 | Steven Jones | Phoenix, AZ | 238.000.000 | 119 |
4 | Adam Walton | Thousand Oaks, CA | 165.500.000 | 83 |
5 | Daniel Weinman | Atlanta, GA | 199.000.000 | 100 |
The 2023 WSOP Main Event has smashed all records with an incredible 10,043 entries, $93.399.900 in prize money and a staggering $12,100,000 first place prize.
After Day 1 of the 2023 WSOP Main Event Final Table there were only three players left and all of them had already secured a staggering minimum of $4,000,000.
As you can see from the chip counts at the start of Day 2 of the 2023 WSOP Main Event Final Table, it was still anybody’s game.
Adam Walton takes 3rd place for $4,000,000
Adam Walton entered the 2023 WSOP Main Event final table as big chip leader.
After Day 1 he was in 3rd place, but Walton came into the Grand Finale firing and managed to take second place, when this hand happened.
Steven Jones raised to 6,000,000 from the button with Q♦6♦, Adam Walton called with 8♠8♣ and Daniel Weinman 3-bet to 27,000,000 from the big the big blind with A♥A♦.
Jones got out of the way, but Adam Walton 4-bet shoved for 209,500,000 (84 big blinds) and Weinman obviously snap-called with the Nuts.
No help from the board and Adam Walton was the 3rd place finished in the 2023 WSOP Main Event for $4,000,000.
Chip counts at the start of Heads-Up play:
Player | Chips |
---|---|
Daniel Weinman | 443,000,000 |
Steven Jones | 159,500,000 |
After busting Walton in this huge pot, Daniel Weinman entered heads-up play with an almost 3 to 1 lead.
Steven Jones had the better start though and cut down Weinman’s lead to only 2 to 1. However, he didn’t get any closer than that.
In the final hand Steven Jones shoved the turn on a board of J♠5♠2♦4♣ with J♣8♦ for 146,000,000. Daniel made the call with K♣J♦ and had Steven dominated. Jones needed an Eight and an Eight only, but the A♥ river was no help.
And just like that Daniel Weinman won the 2023 WSOP Main Event for a record-breaking $12,000,000 first place prize and was crowned new Poker World Champion.
Steven Jones still took home a whopping $6,500,000 for his Runner-Up finish
