Martin Kabrhel Fights Back Against Poker Cheating Accusations – Takes Robl, PokerGo, Cornuth, Bonomo and Smith to Court

Martin Kabrhel has officially taken legal action against those who accused him of cheating during live poker tournaments. The Czech high stakes player has come under heavy fire over the last couple of days and instructed his lawyer to file a suit for defamation.

Daniel B. Ravicher, representing Kabrhel, warned Justin Bonomo, Chance Kornuth, Andrew Robl, Dan Smith, and PokerGO that all messages and documents related to Martin Kabrhel must be preserved for future court action.

He ended his statement with a clear, defiant message to the poker community:

To be absolutely clear, Mr. Kabrhel is not a cheater. He does not mark cards. You have said these false things with malicious intent. We will prove this in court and ask that you be ordered to compensate him for any and all injury caused by your statements.”

Is Martin Kabrhel no poker cheater and innocent of marking cards?

In the hours before Martin Kabrhel’s lawyer posted a legal notice on Twitter, Chance Kornuth and others were discussing the possibility that the whole controversy is nothing more than an elaborate angle shoot.

Martin Kabrhel has been accused of marking cards before and the whole showing the world that he is checking the backs of his opponent’s cards makes this quite likely.

“He is using this past version of himself to make players in a $250,000 buy-in scared to bluff him because he “might” be cheating (he very loudly and suspiciously suggested that there were sticky substances on the cards during the $250K FT a few days ago).”

So, the question is: should Martin Kabrhel face a ban just for creating such a negative atmosphere? High stakes games run on trust and if there is any suspicion that untoward behaviour is going on then it will harm the ecosystem for sure.
