Nik Airball returned to Resorts World after recovering his health and booked a three-figure win right off the bat. Berkey lost an eye-watering $123,700 to set him behind for the first time.
It didn’t take long before there were whispers that Airball had realised he was up against it and decided to bail out for some emergency private coaching. Whatever the truth, Airball came back to the felt with a vengeance.

Details on key hands have been hard to come by thus far, but we have had a few updates from Landon Tice and Airball helper Eshaan “Brownballa” Bhalla.
One key hand from the last couple of day’s play incuded the hand described in the following tweet. This alone was responsible for a big chunk of Matt Berkey’s loss.

Nik Airball and Matt Berkey Play a $424,000 Pot
There has also been talk about Matt Berkey only buying in for $100,000 while Nik Airball generally has several times that amount.
Maybe the $424,000 hand reviewed in the video below is one reason that Berkey doesn’t want to leave himself too exposed to big losses when he is generally thought of as the more skilled player.
His ideal strategy would be to minimise risk and variance while picking up easy EV whenever he spots it.
Nik Airball is all about putting pressure on his opponents in tough, deep stacked situations taking full advantage of the psychological side of the game. Berkey does not need to get involved in such spots if he can avoid it.
