Poker Pros call out GTO solver for cashing in on those wanting to use RTA

A decision to remove a time delay on Pokercode’s GTO solver Odin has sparked outrage on poker Twitter, with Ryan Laplante and others claiming it is simply cashing in on those wanting to cheat by using RTA.

Online poker has been hit hard recently by high-profile cheating cases, with Ali Imsirovic and Jake Schindler banned for using Real Time Assistance (RTA) during play.

We have also reported on other cases, such as that of Fedor Kruse who built a poker “dream machine” that fed him GTO-approved solutions during play.

What Odin’s designers have been accused of is making RTA much easier, but founder Rory Young claims he has done his best to combat cheating in the industry but had no help…

To break it down to those not conversant with the new technology, Twitter poker fan Michael Phan explained: “Basically, some solvers have delays so people can’t use them in real time to cheat in online poker.”

He added: “OP has solver site (like GTO wizard) and proposed that all of the big sites put delays to prevent cheating, but since the big sites declined, OP took out the delay from their site.”

“Removing your anti-RTA AND running a sale is a perfect example of bad actors killing the poker ecosystem”

Odin’s new approach was pulled up by RangeTrainerPro co-founder, KL Cleeton a couple of days ago.

KL Cleeton tweeted: “Completely removing your anti-RTA AND running a sale is a perfect example of bad actors killing the poker ecosystem.”

His colleague, Laplante, picked up on the issue, adding: “Really hope  @CrownUpGuy either isn’t involved with Odin anymore, or they have many other protections to prevent RTA. (I.e: can’t pick exact board/etc).”

Cleeton explained: “There is only 1 completely secure way to prevent/minimize RTA and that is with time delay. I also hope Fedor isn’t involved.”

CrownUpGuy, of course, is modern-day poker legend Fedor Holz (not to be confused with Fedor Kruse mentioned above) who is still the face of Odin on their website…

While there has been no public statement from Holz yet on the changes to Odin’s operations, Young has admitted that another highstakes crusher, Australian Kahle Burns, has turned his back on the product.

Odin came under fire last year from yet another competitor in the GTO solver marketplace, with Dominik Nitsche of DTOPoker unimpressed with the real-time solving capabilities of Odin…
