It was not the WSOP of Daniel Negreanu as Kid Poker ended up being down a staggering $1,100,000! Find out here what were the reasons.
Daniel Negreanu wrapping up his WSOP
At the end of the 2022 World Series of Poker Daniel Negreanu was $1.1 million in the red.
12 cashes but no large score
The GGPoker ambassador had many deep runs and also cashed in 12 events.
However, he failed to make the most out of it and only made one final table, where he finished in 5th place.

When you play a lot of poker tournaments and so many WSOP events as DNegs, then you have to make it to the Top 3 every now and then to be able to cover your costs…
On the wrong side of variance?
What is the reason for Daniel Nergeanu’s big loss? Well, Kid Poker claims it in his popular WSOP Vlogs on variance and variance can indeed be huge in poker tournaments.
In his WSOP Vlogs it looks like the All-ins, simply didn’t go his way, but this also obviously depends on the editing and the hands you show.
“I think I play better every WSOP with fewer and fewer mistakes”
DNegs self-confidence definitely didn’t take a hit as he is happy with the way he played:
“I think I play better every WSOP with fewer and fewer mistakes. My process is to evaluate what worked and what didn’t work, and I mean that primarily in terms of preparation rather than poker strategy. As in what works to help me feel rested and at my best. That’s improved every year and I’m dialed in on several key principles.”
Almost half of the deficit comes from the $250,000 Super High Roller
Then it also has to be stressed, that almost half of the losses ($500,000) are coming from his biggest buy-in event, the $250,000 Super High Roller.
Kid Poker fired two bullets and then lost an All-in as favourite to Runner-Runner flush from David Peters, which triggered an epic Daniel Negreanu Blow-up.
This event reflects Daniel Negreanu’s whole World Series though as he never could get anything going and when he cashed, he failed to land the very important large score.
