Poker Hand of the Week Analysis
What a Fold!
Let’s take an in-depth look at what is going on here.
The hand starts to get interesting on the turn, when another Queen appears given both opponents very strong hands. David Diaz must believe that Trips with top kicker is the best hand here. However, Jeffrey Farnes has already filled up and he only has one out.
After the blank on the river, David bets for value, but then gets raised All-in. This is a sign of extreme strength and Diaz recognizes it straight away.
Although he gets incredible pot odds of almost 7 to 1, he ends up folding a monster making one of the best folds of all time in WSOP Main Event history.
Poker Hand of the Week Conclusion
99.9% of players would have gone broke here. However, after David Diaz led both the turn and the river and then gets raised All-In, he knows that this is never a bluff and that Jeffrey Farnes has him beat as you make this move almost only with the Nuts.
Folding a full house earned Diaz not only an extra $115,000, it saved his tournament life and gave him the chance to win the $10,000,00 first place prize.
Absolutely amazing Fold and well played Sir!
