Mike Matusow is under fire once again for charging excessive markup in WSOP events that many claim he is unprofitable in. For the second successive year, “The Mouth” wants to sell 50% of his action in tournaments costing $10,000 or more to enter at an expensive 1.3.
Mike Matusow Under Fire for 1.3 Markup in $10k WSOP Tournaments
I’m selling up to 50% on all my tourneys but am playing everything so if I don’t sell it all out I don’t care cause it’s more for me! All I can say is I’ve had 2 losing wsop in 26 yrs so jump in and buy pieces cause they won’t last! https://t.co/8EtGls03h6

In September 2021, Mike Matusow caused outrage on the 2+2 forum when he asked for 1.3-1.5 markup, even after claiming that he has only experienced a single losing in 25 years at the WSOP.
This situation was further complicated when Matusow was later accused of falsifying his results for the 2021 series.
But never one to listen to the court of public opinion, Matusow is ploughing on ahead with the same offer and seemingly ready to take all of the same flak only eight months later.
Yah Mike thinks he’s profitable in the toughest event in wsop but he’s not and he’s def not winning at 1.3 in that one

Markup Police Coming After Mike Matusow Again
Shaun Deeb is usually one of the most outspoken names in the poker industry when it comes to calling people out for overstating their skills and this time is no different.
He states that Mike Matusow is no way profitable in the WSOP’s toughest event, without actually telling us which one he means, and that he is no way worth 1.3 markup in the $10k Dealer’s choice, another incredibly tough event.
But is all this sniping at Matusow really deserved? Let’s consider why his deal might be worth it to many potential backers.
For starters, Mike Matusow is a well-known person in the poker industry who has been seen on TV screens around the world for around three decades.
This makes him a character who fans can invest in and feel some emotion and passion as they follow his exploits at the table. He is also likely to pick up a lot more TV time than the average player.
In essence, investor are shot-taking and not overly concerned with a large sample profitability angle.

Bad Timing
It’s probably bad timing for Mike Matusow to sell his package less than a fortnight after Daniel Negreanu offered his action without any markup whatsoever.
That said, it is well-known that Matusow has been prone to money mismanagement over the years, going broke on more than one occasion.
This is in stark contrast to Negreanu’s lucrative ambassadorship contracts with PokerStars and rakeback deals
