Patrik Antonius has revealed that he played golf with Phil Ivey for an outrageous $300,000 per hole in the latest interview with Jeff Gross.
Phil Ivey Bets $300,000 per Hole in Game of Golf with Patrik Antonius
In an interview with Twitch streamer Jeff Gross, the all-time great recounted the story, explaining that Phil Ivey never shied away from any kind of gambling.
In a game of scramble, a team game in golf, the pair arrived at the 17th hole with Antonius, his friend and his caddy up two holes, a cool $600,000. Plenty of reason to feel confident.
Antonius and his team landed their approach shot straight onto the green, only eight feet from the pin. Ivey’s team, on the other hand, missed the green completely.
With three shots to make a birdie and guarantee a profit from the day it all looked too easy. Incredibly, then Patrik Antonius and his two team members all missed what he says was a 95% certainty.
Then, in perfect Hollywood style, Ivey chipped in from off the green to narrow the deficit to a single hole.
The final hole went to Phil Ivey and his team and the day ended in a draw.
Patrik Antonius said:
“That was the most tilting game of golf I ever had”.
High Stakes Golf
This isn’t the only game of golf between poker players playing for high stakes that we know of. Fourteen years ago, Daniel Negreanu and Patrik Antonius played high stakes golf for $40,000 a hole in a mix of team and individual bets.
The final scores for the day were:
- Daniel Negreanu +$55,000, +$100,000 from a side bet with Phil Ivey
- Patrik Antonius -$40,000
- Nick Rainey -$20,000
