Doug Polk has announced that he is going to run a new podcast series, where he will rank the greatest poker players of all time sorted by different categories such as cash game, tournament, Heads-Up, Sit & Go and so on.
The retired heads-up star plans to lay out the case for each player on a shortlist of around 100 over the next few episodes, followed by a vote to pick a top 20.
Going to do a podcast series where we rank the top poker players of all time. Over the next few podcasts we will lay out the case for each player, and you guys will vote.
Our first step is to get a list of ~100 players.

Doug Polk to Run Podcast Series of Best Poker Players of All Time
Polk started with a top 100 poker players list of his own choosing and then asked for opinions on who he missed out and who should be snubbed.
How do we feel about this list? Anyone that should not be here, or any snubs that need to be added?
(Note: we are only ranking top 20, so only suggest people if you think they should be top 20)
These are not in a ranked order just numbered to count, put screenames if important pic.twitter.com/01IiLaXrdK

Now the Arguing Starts
The poker community is as argumentative as any other population we can mention. Highly opinionated to say the least.
For that reason, the debate on who should be in or out is likely to be super entertaining with many knowledgeable commentators having their opinions ignored.
The Twitter thread was quick to see many new lists posted, as well as addition featuring the same few players. One in particular was Jon van Fleet, better known by his online moniker Apestyles.
Controversially, perhaps, Doug Polk wrote that somebody who has played only online MTTs their whole career is unlikely to ever be a candidate for a top 20 player of all time.
Chris Moorman was another omission which seemed strange.
Doug Polk in $200,000 Bodyfat Loss Prop Bet with Bill Perkins
Doug Polk looks to have been a busy guy since returning from his honeymoon last year. Full of new ideas for his podcasting career and also fresh motivation regarding his personal fitness.
During last year many people commented online about how healthy Polk was looking, no doubt driven by a desire to look his best on his wedding photographs.
“No secrets”, Polk said, “only good nutrition and hard work in the gym.
To that end, Polk has engaged in a $200,000 prop bet with Bill Perkins to lose half of his bodyfat in a year.
I have officially started a 1 year bet against @bp22. 1 year to lose half of my body fat. I just got my dexa scan and I came in @ 27.7% bf.
Feb 10th 2023 I must be < 13.85% BF
We bet $200,000
The Journey begins.

13.85% bodyfat is the target, which should be easily achievable in 12 months. One wonders why Bill Perkins has signed Doug Polk up to such as easy challenge when he doesn’t even need the money.
