Doug Polk has just one year to lose half of his bodyfat in a $200,000 prop bet with Bill Perkins, the retired poker pro sharing his current 27.7% bodyfat condition on Twitter…
I have officially started a 1 year bet against @bp22. 1 year to lose half of my body fat. I just got my dexa scan and I came in @ 27.7% bf.
Feb 10th 2023 I must be < 13.85% BF
We bet $200,000
The Journey begins.

It has been a while since we saw a Perkins prop bet, the multi-millionaire poker fanatic behind many of the poker world’s most famous challenges, with Dan Bilzerian, the Staples brothers, and Antonio Esfandiari all involved, as we’ll see later.
Doug Polk is no stranger to the prop betting world either, famously winning one against betrend ElkY Grospelier that saw the Frenchman getting Polk’s faux hawk hairstyle as the forfeit.
His bodyfat bet against Perkins, however, is in a different league, and comes after Polk offered action on the back of a failed fitness regime.
“Looking for action on myself to lose 1/3rd my body fat in a year”
“Getting a Dexa scan for the first time tomorrow. Just stagnated with fitness progress and looking to get back on the grind. Looking for action on myself to lose 1/3rd my body fat in a year,” tweeted Polk.
He added: “Can either bet against me or happy to do a bet with someone looking for the same.”
Polk’s Dexa scan – an X-ray procedure that gives a precise measurement of body fat, lean mass, and bone density – came in at 27.7%. That can be considered in the unhealthy range, but Polk’s plan to shed half of that will be no easy task.
Apart from health reasons, of course, he will now have 200,000 other reasons to stick to whatever regime he decides on to shed the excess blubber.
“I’ll take Doug’s side if anyone wants to bet”
Fellow poker player, Max Silver, think’s the bet will be a pushover for Polk: “Went from 33 to 14ish during pullup bet, should be trivial.” 2013 WSOP Main Event champ, Ryan Riess agrees, and was looking for action of his own: “I’ll take Doug’s side if anyone wants to bet.”
For Perkins, the prop bets are usually a means of encouraging people to do things they want to but can’t manage on their own. That’s how his previous weight and bodyfat bets came about with the staples brothers.
Jaime Staples wanted to lose weight, while brother Matty wanted to bulk up, so Perkins put $150,000 against the siblings $3k that they couldn’t get their weights within 1lb of each other within a year.
When Jaime and Matty won the bet, they celebrated with pizza, and a new bet was born…
The #ultimatesweat continues. The new bet is our 50K to Bill’s 150K on both Matt and I getting to 9.9% body fat or less on March 25th, 2019. https://t.co/i34bHJQRPj

However, there were soon problems with “Ultimate Sweat 2”, Jaime stating in a now-deleted video that he was worried about losing the $50k bet and feeling guilty that he had put his brother in a difficult position.
It is unlikely that Doug Polk will have any such concerns, the thick-skinned, highstakes online heads-up crusher in a good place having recently married and also buying into a Texan poker room.
If he does manage to get his bodyfat down by half, it won’t be the first 6-figure sum he has taken off Perkins. Polk pocketed $250,000 after a speed poker session of 1,650 hands at NL$200/$400.
