Rob Yong has tweeted his interest in bringing back the legendary TV show Late Night Poker at his Dusk till Dawn poker club.
Club Director Simon Trumper has been tasked with putting the project together which might feature a “mix of golden oldies, places for qualifiers and perhaps couple of wizards”.
I have asked Simon Trumper to bring back a version of Late Night Poker at DTD in 2022.
Mix of golden oldies, places for qualifiers & perhaps couple of wizards, stream each heat on new DTD TV set up.
Which players would you like to be invited ? KTF Rob 🙏 pic.twitter.com/qT22RX1lh1

Rob Yong to Revive Late Night Poker at Dusk till Dawn
Late Night Poker played a major part in building the poker scene into what we see today. Poker had never been seen before on UK television screens and it was the first time the world had seen the now ubiquitous hole-cams.
The chance to watch top-level pros outwitting their opponents while knowing if they were bluffing or not was key to building interest in the game before the Moneymaker boom came about.
Cult Following
Although starting life as a niche event with low viewership, Late Night Poker still ran for six seasons between 1999 to 2002, quickly gaining a cult following.
Legendary player Dave “Devilfish” Ulliot took the plaudits in season one, which included all four of the Hendon Mob, creating the first round of star players outside of the United States. Poker was now on the map.
Seeing the potential for what this show could do for the game, in 2000 Phil Hellmuth made the trip over for Season Three and promptly took the event down for a £45,000 payday.
A couple of spin-offs kept the brand going through the poker boom until a proper reboot was commissioned in 2008 running until 2011 when Black Friday all but did for TV poker as the money soon dried up.
Plenty of Interest
No sooner had Rob Yong posted his tweet, a slew of interest came immediately.
Dave “Viffer” Peat said he would make the trip but only if there were people who’d never used a solver in the game and it was 400 big blinds deep minimum.
Luke Schwartz was a popular suggestion from the fans, many remembering his aggressive table chat. Definitely a character that will make great TV.
Tony G also showed interest, and the readers don’t need to be told how entertaining he is at the table.
This promises to be a great project if Rob Yong can get it off the ground. There’s no reason why no as he has all the contacts and the perfect venue ready to go.
Previous champions coming back with qualifiers getting the chance to square up against major stars of the game sounds like a fantastic recipe. Fingers crossed that this actually happens.
