Brazilian football star Neymar has taken down a super high roller event in the run up to an extravagant New Year’s Eve party at his $3,400,000 mansion.

The tournament was organised by the Paris Saint-Germain centre-forward, who invited and then subsequently defeated professional player Andre Akkari.
Football Star Neymar Wins Big in Super High Roller Event
Neymar is currently nursing an injury after landing heavily during a French top-tier clash. After a spell of posting social media clips of him working on his rehabilitation he was clearly in the mood to let his hair down for the holiday period.
Famously a huge fan of poker, the 29-year-old couldn’t resist pulling in more than a few friends and poker faces to celebrate the New Year at his swanky Sao Paulo mansion.
Unfortunately, no other details of the event are known except that Neymar was victorious. It would have been nice to hear what kind of a buy-in was used at the very least.
How Good at Poker Is Neymar?
Neymar clearly loves the game of poker and earlier this year expressed his wish to turn professional once his footballing career comes to an end.

Speaking to French media outlet, he said:
“I think that after playing football I will be able to do tournaments, travel to play tournaments that I have always wanted to participate in and could not do because of my agenda and my career.”
“So when I finish my football career, that’s one of the things I’m going to do, travel to play this type of tournament.”
He added that the similarities between poker and football are many, singling out focus and the ability to read how a game is flowing as the most important.
After only taking up poker during the 2014 he has made considerable progress, but many will be thinking that recent criticism fired in his direction highlights that maybe focus isn’t his strong suit.
Last month, the legendary Brazilian footballer Ronaldo backed his compatriot after he was spotted partying in a nightclub following a 0-0 draw against Argentina in a World Cup qualifier.
Neymar missed the game through injury but this attack followed photos of him appearing more than a little “pot-bellied” during the summer.
If he really does want to become a poker professional, then he must realise that the game is extremely unforgiving to those who don’t put in consistent effort.
That said, as one of the best footballers in the world today, he at least will know what kind of effort is required to achieve success in poker, even if sometimes his motivation isn’t what it needs to be.
